  • Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup

Since he was 4 months old I introduced Zach to a sippy cup with water but he has never took any intrest

I bought him a new one at 6 months again no intrest & yesterday bought another one for 12 months it's like he doesn't get he has go suck it as it's a different teat to a bottle... Of course he will get it

He just has 3/4 bottles a day doesn't drink in-between really as doesn't get what he has go d wig a cup so just plays with it in his mouth & throws it on the floor

At 12 months Alfie was off a bottle had his milk/water in a cup & just after 16 months drank out of a normal plastic cup never made a mess.....

Not sure why Zach doesn't seem to like/take to a cup?.

Mine both had water from a bottle at that age, didn't take to a sippy cup either. I wouldn't worry about it while he's taking so much milk, just keep offering it. They both started drinking from a sippy cup once they didn't have a bottle any more iirc.

We have always just used normal cups.

Have you tried an open cup? Rafi seems to be doing really well with a Doidy cup and water at mealtimes (he's 7 months now). He's not too bad with a sippy cup, but spends more time trying to chew it than drinking, but is desperate to pull an open cup to his mouth to drink.

Yes, do try a Doidy cup with a VERY small amount of water in!

neither of mine took to sippy cups in any way.

They were able to use sport cap bottles though.

I was going to suggest trying an open cup, as he may prefer this. I know that open cups may not be the most practical for being out and maybe something like this might help

But otherwise, at 1 year old I would think that it's ok for children to drink water from a bottle. What isn't ok for their teeth is if you add juice to a bottle.
