I've been awake since 4.15 this morning. I have my parents to stay for the week and they are in Maisie's room, where I normally sleep. I am sleeping in our room with DH and Maisie. Gosh, she is noisy! DH sleeps through it all, but she does like a good chat in the night. She's obviously having a lovely time, but she kept me awake. I hope she's a bit quieter tonight, or that I'm so tired I sleep through it too.

Hi Pancake,

I can totally understand this, even though Livvy's in her own room I still have the monitor and just lately she's started having talking parties at 5:30 in the morning! I've had to turn the volume right down so we can't here her now because it was waking us up!

I guess there's not alot you can do about it really except hope you get used to her ramblings! Sorry that's not much help is it, I guess if it continues you could always try to sleep downstairs? Are your parents up for long? Well if I'd read your post properly I would've seen they are up for the week! doh! Hmmmm I know put Maisie in with your parents, they can get a disturbed sleep!

I feel for you Pancake. I had a really disturbed night, lo woke at 3 and didn't go back to sleep till after 5. He wasn't wide awake just grumping which was enough to keep me awake. He woke me a little later on doing the same thing and I feel :ugh: too. I imagine it's worse though as you have guests. Fingers crossed you have a better night tonight.

She did it again last night. She woke at 4 and went back to sleep at 6.15 for an hour. I went downstairs to sleep on the sofa and I'd just got to sleep when she started screaming so I had to go upstairs and play dummy wars for a bit. Why can't DH hear her screaming when he is in the same room as her and I can when I'm downstairs? :-(

And when I did go to sleep this morning I had a dream I had a nervous breakdown, so I woke up even more tired. :ugh:

We're going away next week to a cottage where we have to share the same room. I'm going to lose my marbles if it carries on like this.

And surely Maisie must be knackered after all that?

Hiya again,

Oh dear that's not good and I guess your cottage stay is a holiday?? It won't be very relaxing for you will it!!

I think when you're away and your DH isn't working it must be his turn to sort her out if she wakes at night. Wake him up if she starts screaming. As for the talking, have you got any of those foam ear plugs that they give you on planes?? I think they would block out the mumblings but you would still hear her if she started screaming.

Like I said before Livvy does this too, this morning she was merrily chatting to herself at 2:30 and then again at 5:30 but she doesn't seem overly tired this morning! My DH reckons in his 'dad' book it says that at this time (around 4 months) they start waking up and practising the skills that they are learning so this is probably just a phase and will pass eventually.

I really hope you're able to sort this one out, I guess you could have her cot in a downstairs room if there is a seperate room from the living room at the cottage?

It's funny how selective your OH's hearing can be when it comes to a baby crying isn't it

I don't really know what to suggest pancake apart from lots and lots of :mug:
