Mr Pie gave me a kinder egg for my 21st. He'd prized it open, and taken out the toy and replaced it with an engagement ring!
It was a complete surprise.

We went to Straford for the weekend. It was our first night and we were getting ready to go out and he asked me while I was getting ready  He was worried I would say no, so to save face he thought he better ask before we left the B & B
I'd basically given DH an ultimatum - we were in Barcelona for a week and I told him that if I came back and we weren't engaged I'd leave him  (we'd been together for 5 years and I wanted commitment - typical woman :teehee: but bear in mind he had asked my dad if we could get married about 3 months beforehand )
So I knew it was coming but it still took me by surprise
We were visiting the Sagrada Familia and were sitting admiring the view when he whispered in my ear "Will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you be my wife?" and I promptly burst into floods of tears:cloud9: We had a wonderful day and a very memorable holiday.
We got married a year and a day later....

Mr Pede and I were watching tv and asked me to change the volume, but the remote was nowhere to be seen so he said "try down the side of the sofa" so I did and way hey, found a little box! He then got all coy, got down one knee (as one does) and said "will you marry me" with fag in mouth. Who could refuse? :lovin:

We were on holiday in Cyprus getting ready to go out one evening. He got down on one knee and said 'Will you marry me' then produced a ring. We had only been dating less than a year so was so not expecting it! He had been petrified I was going to say no.

It was my 20th Birthday and I was in bed. Hubby came up with cards and pressies, and gave me a hat box with LOTS of shredded tissue inside. I dug deep and there was a ring box buried deep. I opened it up and there was a note in the ring box saying, please will you will marry me. 11 years on and I have never looked back. We've had many ups and downs, but are here to tell the tale. He is my complete, my total other half

He took me out for a meal and proposed. I got a ring but we didn't get around to planning the wedding.
We were on our way back from an Xmas party quite a few months later and he said that he wanted to show me somewhere. He took me to the hotel that we eventually got married in and booked it there and then :girllove: :cloud9:
Absolutely fabulous day and alongside the birth of Oliver it really was the best day of my life.

Mine was utterly unromantic!!! We'd been out for a curry and had just finished having sex in my parent's hallway before he went home and were still lying on the floor!!! He proposed and I said no as I didn't believe him. I lay awake all night thinking about it and then called him the next day and said 'if you meant what you said then the answer is yes'! Thankfully he didn't accept my first answer!!!

We were travelling around the UK after DH first arrived over here. Had been "together" for 9 months, but only spent 3 of those actually together. The rest was long distance.
We decided to really splash out & have lunch at Pizza Hut!! (was ususally a loaf of bread & a bit of cheese to make sandwiches!)
We were sitting opposite each other chatting when my text alert went off. I checked my phone & it was from DH. It said "I love you. Will you marry me?"
I said yes!!

We were taking the dog for a walk - we took him to the beach, which happens to be where we had our 1st kiss, we sat on the bench chatting for a while remembering that 1st proper kiss and with that he sunk down onto 1 knee, produced a ring and proposed.....we both cried, and all this time dog is sat nicely beside with ball in mouth wondering when we were going to start his walk

mine's a bit of a long one, bear with me!
We were in an ldr but he was over with me for a few days, bringing the now mr lola dane with him.
We had all gone out on the train to Portrush (think irish blackpool on a smaller scale) By the time we got there, after my putting us on the wrong train and a very long detour to ballymena , everything was shut so we sat on the beach and then went for fish n chips.
He seemed to be in a mood with me though i wasnt sure why and i stomped off ahead. He grabbed me and pushed me against the wall and went "one question...." I was certain he was going to ask me how the hell i was getting home as he had my train ticket! "will you marry me?
i was crying and laughing with releif at the same time! I didnt say yes till we were on the train and then he got down on one knee and asked again, this time presenting me with the ringpull off his beer as it was a bit spontaneous!!

I already posted mine on MsNats thread but here it s again
We were in bed making last minute plans for a 3 centre trip to the USA 2 days before our flight and I said jokingly 'maybe we should get married seeing as we're going to Las Vegas'. And DH said ok and I said ok then and that was it! We rushed around all the jewellers we could find to get a ring before we went and off we went! We decided not to tell any parents/friends or family just in case we changed our mind!!:teehee:

He didn't, I did
I did it by text  It was 29th Feb and he had gone to work that night having teased me all week about it being a Leap year and the tradition that went with it.
After a couple of texts, I bit the bullet and asked and he said yes
and that was that, I thought we would have a long engagement but he said he wanted us to get married the following year, and in 2005 we did.
Been married just over a year now

Lovely stories everybody! Making me :cry:too
OH and I were at University at the time and were in a LDR. I absolutely knew that I wanted to be married to him all that time and missed him like mad. We had talked about it a bit, but in the end I was proposed to in the Car...in Manchester Arndale Carpark:oops::lol: Not the most romantic location, I think you'll agree! I really didn't mind though I was just thrilled to be asked and :cry:with happiness.
This was almost 3 years ago and we're still not married yet, but hopefully will be setting a date in a few years time:fingerscrossed:
It was me that proposed to him. We had been together nearly 2 years when I decided to do it. It was a leap year but I didn't actually ask on the 29th Feb, it was on our anniversary which is about a month later. We had gone to Colchester Zoo for the day and were eating our lunch in the car park in the back of the car. Once we had finished lunch we opened our presents to each other. What I had done was got Thorntons to write on one of their chocolate plaques 'Will you marry me?'. I then wrapped it upside down so when he opened it he had to turn it over to see what it was. I made sure it was the last present he opened. He was really shocked and took quite a while to answer me. I had to actually say to him 'Well??' before he answered me. He had no idea that I was going to ask and was planning to ask me himself on my birthday that September. I was too impatient and had got fed up of waiting.

Mr P proposed to me in a comedy club. He was working behind the bar there and I had known him about 4 months. He did it when the club had closed, in front of all his workmates. I said yes. We were going to get married straight away, but I had an attack of common sense and we waited for 3 more years before we got married. I'm glad we did, otherwise we would have been divorced by now. We had some journeys to take in those 3 years, and it was better that we did them before we got married. He had a few bouts of his illness in that time and I think I needed to see them before I married him, iyswim. We have been happily married for 3 years now.

It was on our 7 year anniversary and that morning at the hairdressers I had been moaning on about how I'd given up all hope .
We'd had a lovely day together drinking in a couple of pubs. On the way home I suggested we stop off at the off licence and pick up a bottle of wine. He made some excuse about not wanting to. When we were back in the house he went off whilst I sat in the lounge. He re-appeared, got down on one knee and popped the question. I said yes and burst into tears. He had smuggled the ring and a very expensive bottle of champagne into the house somehow without me noticing! We were quite tipsy by the end of the day having been out in the afternoon and then having the champagne but I had a lovely time.
It's 5 weeks exactly now until the big day and I've no idea where the past 18 months have gone!
I never got a proposal as such.
We'd been together about 10 years and he came home from work one day and said he'd booked a show-round at a manor house near us that was a wedding venue and did I fancy a look.
He made it sound like a trip round B&Q or something.
Not the most romantic man in the world but 5 years and 2 kids later we're still here, although I could cheerfully strangle him at times

We'd been together just a few months when I moved out to Rome for my 3rd yr of uni - he came out to visit and proposed in St Peters. We'd talked about getting married before but nothing official till then. It took us a further five years to get round to getting married though and we've been married 3yrs next month

I always laugh when I hear my Grans story about how my Grandad proposed.
For a few months my Gran had seen a ring she liked at the jewellers and my Grandad knew this, but nothing was ever said about getting married.
Anyway, one evening my Grandad was walking my Gran home and on the way he got a box out of his pocket opened it and said,
' well, do you still want it?'
my Gran just said 'er, yes, alright'
She said the pair of them laughed all the way home.

We'd been together 6 months and were travelling around Eastern Europe. He proposed to me in a tent the morning after we came down from Mount Olympus which we'd spent the past 3 days climbing. I had heatstroke. He proposed on the basis that if we could manage that, we could manage anything. So far he's been right, althought things have happened since then that are a lot sodding harder then climbing a mountain. We finally got round to buying a ring 3 months later.
Ours is a bit of a funny one - basically we did it all the wrong way round, we'd always discussed marriage, children etc from when we got together really, so as it went we started talking about getting married to time it with my 3-yr contract still running (to give us more money!), so booked the wedding first (14mths before the day), then a couple of months later bought my ring, and then it was just a case of waiting for hubby to propose! He said he would, and he wouldn't let me propose to him (I tried!), but he missed some corkers of opportunities  So in the end it got to 25th May 2002(wedding all sorted for 13th July 2002) and hubby and I got last minute tickets to see Leicester Tigers vs Munster in the European cup rugby finals at the Millennium stadium. Tigers won :ellie: and as everyone around us (and us!) was leaping around whooping after the final whistle I shouted at hubby 'ask me now', he shouted 'will you marry me?' back, and that was that!  Maybe not super-romantic, but we'll never forget it and it's still one to tell the grandkids

I was asked in our favorite italian restaurant, just sat next to each other on sofa's drinking ameretto.
I got to design my own ring, and he asked me 'properly' a few weeks later in the same restaurant, over some pink champagne. I'm glad he didn't do the 'down on one knee thing' as I would have wet my pants laughing

I was living out in Russia for a year as part of my degree, and I flew home for 2 weeks at Xmas. As I was walking through the gates at Heathrow, there was DH with a huge bunch of flowers on one knee :heartbeat:

We were in a VERY posh restaurant half way through a lovely romantic meal when DH turned to the people behind us and said excuse me will you witness this for me???
He got down on one knee and produced a lovely ring. At this point everyone was looking and when i said yes everyone clapped!...I went sooo red!...
Later that night we went out, i drunk too much and was sick...how romantic!

Ours isnt very romantic. OH had been in a motorbike accident and broke his arm, i went to A&E to see him and brought him home at aboutn 5am. we where in bed talking because we couldnt sleep and he asked me then. (He had been given alot of morphine tho) This was about 4 years ago and we get married in 3 month and 1 week = cant believe how quick its gone.
Ah, some lovely stories here
Rob proposed on Christmas Day 2004 while I was 4 months pregant with Dixie. I just knew he was going to do it though, as I'd walked into the kitchen and my mum and dad were whispering, and then clammed up when I walked in
Rob had gone for a drink with my dad on Christmas Eve, and asked his permission. After we'd opened all our pressies on Christmas morning, we went to Greenwich Park for a walk and some fresh air, and as we were sat watching the ducks, he got down on one knee and proposed  . He'd given me a pair of diamond earrings as one of my Christmas presents and the ring matched those :thumb:
We still aren't married though, but I think we'll probably do it next winter :ellie:

 these are so lovely!
OH proposed to me on Christmas Eve last year. We had gone to a country house hotel for Christmas, and had spent the day having spa treatments, going to the pantomine, then having dinner. Our room was in a separate courtyard building, which had a huge Christmas tree in the centre of the courtyard. He went down on on knee, asked me to marry him, and produced a box with a little silver and diamond ring, but with a card insert with a picture of the platinum and diamond ring that was being made, "Will you marry me?" and the date of the ring fitting all printed on it. I  and said yes, he  , we went back to the bar for champagne, and it was a wonderful evening. We went back to the room late and had Christmas sex :teehee: . It was utterly fantastic (the whole experience not just the :teehee: ) and I can't wait until October to marry him, and Christmas, when the trees will remind me of his proposal!

Aww some lovely stories but Lois your wins hands down for the funniest hun:lol:
Anyway we were out with my parents and some of my family NYE 1998, just as the clock struck midnight P hugged me and whispered in my ear "will you marry me" I was completely dumbstruck and said "do you mean it":doh: I was crying and mum looked at me and mouthed "whats wrong" I mouthed back "he proposed" just as P said "lets not tell anyone till my parents are with us" but in my excitement I also told all my cousins who were with us:lol::lol:
Anyway his parents came round to our house later and we offically told everyone which was lovely.
Next morning the little horror bag woke up and said "I had a terrible dream last night, I dreamt I proposed and you said yes":lol: Needless to say I did not give him a chance to change his mind, I had my ring the day after and two weeks later the church was booked:teehee::teehee::teehee: 6 years on and its still the best day of my life and I love him more than ever :lurve:
Blimey, I've been resisting this one as it's a LONG story :laff:.
We were in Zermatt skiing - Mr Minky told me he wanted to go somewhere special and paid for me to go as it was out of my league .
He had planned to propose on New Year's Eve in the square by the church, underneath the fireworks blah blah blah.
BUT
On NYE we went over to Cervinia to ski (Italy). And it was phenomenally windy. And they closed the cable car back. And it was too dangerous to walk the 1 km or so up to the ridge. So, along with about 500 others, we were stranded. The buses had to come from Turin and took about 3 hours to get there, adn we didn't leave Cervinia for til about 10 pm (it's a 2 minute cable car ride and a FIVE hour bus ride back). The bus ride back was horrendous, people were smoking, there was arguing and I was exhausted.
Needless to say he didn't chance his luck!
So on new year's day, we went on a horse drawn sleigh ride before dinner - and in the dark, under the Matterhorn, he got down on one knee (and nearly fell out of the sleigh :teehee:) and asked me (very funny story about Switzerland being neutral and asking me to change sides :laff:). I said yes, and he produced a bottle of Moet and a large diamond (too big for my fingers sadly)! :girllove:
When we got back we had the driver take a picture, and told all the people in the hotel who treated us to champagne and all the teenage girls cried :laff:
It was super romantic and I was utterly thrilled.

I :lurve: a good proposal story, shame mine isn't one of them
Mr G asked me when we were in bed on the night of his 21st birthday. I was only 19 at the time and said I would love to marry him but would he mind asking me again in a few years time
Fast forward seven years and he still hadn't asked again so on the 29th of Feb 2004 I made him his favourite dinner (macaroni and cheese - sophisticated or what?) and asked him to marry me. I even bought him a ring which was about 5 sizes too big. He didn't realise I was serious until he saw the ring at which point he said he would love to as long as we could do it as soon as possible, 5 months later we were married :cloud9:

Mine was romantic, which was a HUGE shock as neither OH and I are particularly romantic.
We were on holiday in Paris - where we actually met and we were mucking about on a bridge, he was pretending to push me off (v mature I know but he was 22!). I said well you won't get any life insurance as you have to be married (was studying for my FPC so am excused my exceedingly geeky chitchat) and he just reached into his pocket and pulled out a little box!
I cried and cried and just managed to blurt yes before I started blubbing again.
Aaah this has made me all mushy thinking about this again.

Mine is poo because DH never proposed! And I haven't got an engagement ring either. I got an unexpected BFP and I said I didn't want the baby to have my surname because I hated it. 2 weeks later we were married and have been for 6 years.
Still owed a ring, I might have to chase that up:scratchchin:

OK here's mine,
We'd been together 3 years when he proposed.
We were on hols in Ireland for my birthday. DH is rubbish at buying pressies so in our wooing days he'd whisk me away for my birthday instead.
Anyway, it was my birthday and we'd had a cracking night out in Dublin. We were back at the hotel room and he said he's bought a pressie for me, which was unusual as I thought the holiday was my pressie. He produced a bag, inside which was a box, inside which was another box, inside which was a ring! When I saw it I basically sat there gibbering, going 'Oh my God, oh my god', while he said 'Will you be Mrs Moffgal?'
9 months later we were hitched, and a year later we were pg!

Ooh, loving these stories! DH and I had been together over 5 years and had just moved into our first flat. He told me that he'd booked a weekend away for us in February 2002 (just before Valentine's Day) but wouldn't tell me where until the day before. It was Florence, number one on my wish list of places to go. It was so beautiful and in the excitement of going it didn't cross my mind that he would propose (in fact I thought the weekend away was instead of proposing:oops: ). On the first night after dinner we walked down to the River Arno past the Uffizi gallery and he got down on his knee just before the Ponte Vecchio:lurve: Cue lots of  from me and a big 'YES'. The look of relief on his face was a picture:lol: He hadn't bought a ring because he had read that there were lots of jewellery shops on the Ponte Vecchio where I could choose one (I actually ended up getting it when we got home!). We got married in May 2004

I got engaged in a glass observation lounge at the top of a building in Brooklyn, NYC, looking out over the river at the Manhattan skyline by night. It was totally unexpected and very surreal and beautiful. The next day we walked around NYC and went to the top of the Empire State Building. I've got photos somewhere.... will see if I can dig them up.

Mine was December last year, I just had arrived to Ghent and he suggested to go to the Christmas market in the center, I think he had thought it would have a great atmosphere with the stalls, the people and the lights, unfortunately the weather was :pants: (rain and snow!) so there was no one there! Anyways, we were walking around and then he asked "Are you cold?", I said "No", and then said "Well, there's something else I wanted to ask you", while going through one of his jacket pockets, at this point I realized what he was going to do and started crying. Then he produced the ring (it has two stones) and explained me that he picked that one because for him it meant two lives becomin intertwined in one. I still get butterflies when I think of it! :cloud9:
