My childminding pack came through today and I'm signing up for the pre-registration course in that starts in 2 months time!!! All starting to get real. DH and I have been discussing at length the last week or so and are still really up for it, though will need to do a LOT of decluttering for the Ofsted inspection. I know it will all be worth it though and we are already talking about setting me up as a limited company, activities I can do with the wee ones, reading up on the curriculum etc!!!

How exciting!!! Just had to share!

How fab Lois.
I think you'll be great and it will be a really gratifying and worthwhile job for you.
All the best and look forward to hearing more over the next few weeks

have you ever done anything like this before, as in when you went to college etc. Just thinking it might be an idea for me to do something like this. Not here where i am, but when ever we move. I want to move further from London,

Nope not at all - the only experience I have is from looking after P and my friend's kids! I am desperate to get out of my current work and spend more time with P and this was the best thing for us. I also have another business idea where being a registered childminder will be a benefit. It helps that my best friends are looking for childcare.

I say go for it LJJ - you have nothing to lose.

Far be it from me to recommend any other forum than this one, but... (looks left and right to see if Damz is watching us) ... Mumsnet have a childminding/nanny/opair forum and that has a group calling themselves the "childminders club" and pretty much anything that can happen to you as a CM or any question you want answered - they have been there before. Worth lurking for a bit or scanning through the archives I would have thought.

:toetap:

As Damsels isn't specifically a forum for mums, I have no problem at all with mums sites being mentioned :laff:

Oooh Lois, sounds like you have really got the ball rolling, fingers crossed that things go well for you and this is the chance you obviously seem to want to get out of your current job

Let us know how you get on (sure you will anyway :laff:). I'm entertaining similar thoughts but my house is a year or so off from being suitable.
