I'm not actually asking for me, I hope thats Ok?

My sister fell pregnant the first month she tried for her baby boy. Sadly, he died:cry: 2 days after he was born from a blood clot last June.

Her and her OH started TTC #2 almost straight away, it has now been a year and she is still not pregnant. She knows stress is a big factor in not concieving but her periods are backto regular cycles so she doesn't understand why she's not pg.

I advised her to go and see her GP as they have been trying a year but she thinks they won't refer for tests or anythinga s she has already been pg once.

Does anyone have any experience of finding it difficult to concieve #2?

Thanks
Leah

Hi,

firstly i just wanted to send you and your sis a *hug*. I think she could go to the doctors, they should take her seriously. Maybe she could try Ovulation predictor kits, or charting for a bit and see how she gets on with them. Maybe if shes got "something" to show the doctor (ie: charts) maybe that could help. Or she could go for blood tests to see if theres a reason why its not happening at the moment,
Big hugs
Gina

Hi Leah

So sorry to hear about your sister's little boy :-(

We conceived our 1st child after 5 months and when we decided to try for a 2nd nothing happened. It got to month 6 and I decided to go and see my GP.

I told a little white lie   and said that we had been ttc for just under a year. I thought that I wouldn't be taken seriously as a) I already had one child and b) I am only 29. My GP was fantastic, took blood and even spoke to a specialist about my circumstances. He said that all the 'plumbing' obviously worked as I had already had one pregnancy! I was prescribed Clomid but my ever canny GP said to wait until my next period arrived before splashing out on a prescription

Low and behold my period didn't arrive and I am now almost 16 weeks pregnant  When I went to see the same GP he said that I probably got into my head that I was going to take the Clomid and so my body relaxed.

I would advise your sister to go armed with the dates of her periods and the length from at least the past 3 months. Hopefully her GP will be as understanding as mine.

Sending her lots and lots of luck and baby dust.

PLxxx

I would definitely go to the docs and go armed with details of her cycles. I was at the point of seeing the doctor when ttcing for this baby - we conceived within 2 months of ttcing for our first and this one took 7 months but I have PCOS and my cycles have been haywire since I had my daughter. Clomid would have been my next step had I not fallen pregnant when I did.

A friend of mine has been trying now for many years - her 2nd child died also - and it's just now after years of heartache that they've discovered she has endometriosis.

I hope that she gets a resolution soon.

So sorry to hear about your sister's little boy.

From a medical perspective and given the history I think a GP would be more than happy to start looking for causes as to why this has happened.

:hugs: for your sis and all of her family.

I echo what Mrs Lexx has suggested. There is no reasonto think that the GP would not take you seriously but going armed with charts or details of her cycles/ovulation patterns can add weight to her argument and also give her a bit of confidence if she is at all nervous about seeing the GP.

Fingers crossed for her

How old is your sister?? I had been trying for just 9 months after we lost our second child and cos I'm pretty ancient (40) they refered me straight away. There must be something about knowing you're due to take Clomid - she says sitting here 18 weeks pregnant

I would get down to the GP definitely. SEcondary infertility is more common than you might think and very heartbreaking.

Best of luck to your friend.
