View Full Version : How many steps per day?

I was looking in the glove compartment this morning when I found my OH's pedometer.

I stuck it on my trousers this morning and I've now clocked up 4,353 steps which isn't bad considering my job is sedentary and I only move to pee or make a cuppa

How many steps are you meant to take each day? Something in the back of my mind says to aim at around ten thousand. Does anyone know?

Oh dear, I'm not even half way yet!! That first link says that the average person's step is 2.5ft so it all equates to an average of 5 miles = 10,000 steps!

Thanks Crazyfool :thumb:

CH you can buy those pedometers really cheaply , I'm sure argos have them . They are only about £7 my OH got one to see how far he walks when he plays golf.

When I used to have one I used to do 10000 on a work day, 20000 on an active non work day (ie walking a lot in the country), and about 4500 on a sitting on my arse all day. It broke though and I never got round to getting another one. Paul McKenna hypnotises you so you aim to increase your steps each day

well I'm home now and it's at 6,528 but I really don't expect it to go up much more than that before bedtime.
