I am posting this here as it relates to post birth issues. Grace is now 15 months old but I am still having discomfort with putting tampons in. I never had this pre-baby. I gave birth vaginally and had an episiotomy. It is really quite painful and there are certain tampons I can't use because they hurt more. Anyone else had this?

I didn't have success with tampons since having Connor tbh, also had an episiotomy.

Hi Jules
I had exactly the same problem and I didn't have a vaginal birth. Post-baby I just found they were uncomfortable, to the point of being painful. I've had to stop using them and instead use reuseable pads from the cloth mad mummy. They are soft and reusable and most importantly comfortable.
I did go and see the doctor about the discomfort and had an internal (yuck!) but they couldn't find anything.
Hope things improve for you soon

I went for a smear recently and it was quite painful. Apparently from the scarring from the stitches I had.

Hi Jules
I had been putting it off, but I have recently been to the docs, because for 4 years since DS was born I have been in a lot of pain during sex (I can use tampons with not much trouble though). I had an epesiotomy too and I think they stitched me up too much afterwards. My doctor says that there is a band of very restrictive scar tissue where the cut was made, so she is referring me to the consultant gynaecologist. I hope they can sort me out!

I suppose I should go and get it checked out. I have to see the pratice nurse soon for repeat presecription of pill so maybe I should mention to her. I can't imagine going back to pads though. I only lasted one month on them when my periods started
Thanks for all your replies, it certainly makes me feel that I am not alone :hugs:
I've heard that you can become drier after having children (god i thought we were spared this until the menopause hit  ) so it could be this? Could you try using a lubricant of some sort?
Fortunately I haven't had this problem but have noticed that a few of my fellow June 2005 mums mentioned it. I couldn't go back to pads now either!!
