Dylan has always had a lovely tidy innie but this morning whilst I was getting him undressed for his bath I noticed that he now has a serious outie happening.

Is this normal?
He is 3 next month so can an innie become an outie?
Or is this just super strange and should I take him to the doctor?

He is not in any pain as I was poking him in the belly  and apparently it was tickling him.

I'm not sure, but could it be a hernia? Sol has one and it's slowly going, but he had it from birth and it was linked to how they tied the cord. Worth asking your GP, though my gut feel is not to worry if it doesn't hurt him.

See I did think hernia and I did think this last week whilst he was clutching his stomach and screaming in pain. But he hasn;t had any problems all week or complained of pain.

I will chat to the nurse about it next week as I need to go and get blood taken anyway.

I am sure its just odd rather than anything being wrong

Certainly sounds like a hernia - I think they are more common in boys for some reason. Probably won't need any treatment or anything unless its really causing pain.

Good luck xx

Definately sounds like a hernia and you should get him checked soon as it can get strangled by the muscle wall and lead to problems.

My brother had one and although was in no pain still wanted to play football and stuff my mum took him to A&E and he was operated on that night.

It is more common in boys under 10.

Well I just looked at his belly button again and its still sticking out so I am going to go and goggle (god help me) to see if there are any other symptoms and then sort out an appointment with the doctor.
