Well I've bitten the bullet after reading a lot of info from Ofsted online and I've called the local authority for an information pack! The guy was really helpful - he did warn me that my area has a high subscription of childminders but that shouldn't be a problem if I have good networks (which I do). TBH I'm not really in it for the money, more that I can spend more time with Paige and earn a bit of extra cash on the side. I'm certainly not looking to have a whole hoard of kids!!

I need to read through everything he is sending through and then have a sit down with hubby and my friends to see if it's a viable option.

So I may be in for a bit of change in the next few months!!

Good luck with that Lois, I think you will make a fab childminder. If it means you can spend more time with your little darling (and no 2 :wik: when he/she comes along) then it will be worth it!

Hope it works out for you.

Fancy investigating the trains from here to there - I figure if we put B on it at about 7am she'll probably get to you for 9am - what do you reckon?

You'll do a fantastic job Lois, if this is what you decide to do, and I know the kids you care for will be constantly challenged and entertained - they'll be lucky babs indeed.

Yes please Skibunny!! I'd LOVE to have little B and Paige would love to see her too!

I could dress her up like Paddington bear and send her with a tag that says 'Please look after this B'!!!

Are you giving up your job to do chilminding Lois? Good luck with it, you'll love spending time with Paige :) (though some days you might be wishing for your old job back if the kids are playing up :laff: )

I like Skibunny's idea of putting my kids on a train down to you :retrowink2:

Oh good luck.

They have been running seminars about childminding in Edinburgh and I have been tempted to go for a look-see.

That's the idea yes, but it's all in the early stages atm. I have another business idea also where being registered as a CM and having insurance will be a huge plus so I'm really hoping it will work out.

Good luck. This is something I am planning to do when the girls start school (wouldn't be worth it until then) and we relocate properly out of London.

If you dont have a copy of the National Standards or a 'Birth To Three Matters' pack I have one you can have... I was going to register as a childminder but changed my mind. PM your address if you want them and I will post them to you

I had a phonecall yesterday from a lady who had seen my website and wanted some advice on getting into childminding- I spent about 1/2 hr on the phone to her, singing the praises of the job
