Not sure whether to put this in f&d or a parenting forum but...

Do you have any favourite recipes which don't include salt/stock etc?

We like to eat all of our meals as a family with our 2 year old and baby and all eat the same thing. Obviously we want to avoid salt for the children so I try to cook without it.

The sort of things we have at the moment are:

No salt/stock in things like lasagne, bolognaise or chillis as we find that plenty of garlic + herbs etc gives it enough flavour.
Indian dishes - just flavoured with spices.
Salmon steaks or chicken breasts.

Any more interesting ideas?

hi incywincy,

we never use salt in cooking, and use reduced salt stock if the recipe really needs it.

we use a lot of chilli or other spices for flavouring to give things a kick, but if we are eating with splashy which we do 5 nights out of 7 we just don't add any salt.

we eat pretty much the same things as you by the looks of it, other ideas are spaghetti carbonara, fish pie, um, that's all i can think of.

but in my rambly way all i am saying is we gave up using salt in cooking many years ago so just don't add it.

i'll get me coat....

Thanks bb, a couple of things we don't try there for ideas!
We never add salt either, I guess it's mainly the stock and saltier foods in recipes that I'm trying to avoid as so many recipes include it. I've bought some low salt stock cubes (Kallo) in the past but really don't like the flavour.
