Is it easy to grow lettuce?

My MIL grew big pots of it in Aus & it was so lovely to pick some fresh to have with dinner each night. Would it grow so easily in UK climate though?

And at this time of year, would I be best to plant a fully grown lettuce (assume you can buy from garden centre?).

I grew loads in a grow bag last year just in the garden, so if I can do it then yes it is easy:lol:

My kids loved being able to go and pick it and eat it straight from the garden.
