Cycles and antibiotics

Hi everyone

I am currently taking a high dose of an antibiotic called oxytetracycline, have been taking it for 12 days and have 13 days left to take, I am on 1000mg a day for a skin problem.

Now, we are going to start TTC at the end of the tablets - but just wanted to know if anyone knows if antibiotics can mess with cycles? I was due to come on 6 days ago, and I am normally very regular so am a bit confused....any help would be fab

I posted something recently very similar on "t'other side" and I know I should know this stuff but they don't teach you everything in medical school :wink:

Anyway my last "normal" 35d cycle was back in Feb. A couple of days into that cycle I started taking 250mg erythromycin again for a skin problem (rosacea). My last cycle was 60 days and this one seems to be heading for 56 days - currently CD47 !! I stopped taking the erythro a couple of weeks ago as it was the only thing I could think was different to explain why my cycles suddenly changed.

I don't know if it is that or not ! Hopefully I'll be pg this month so I won't have to worry about it but it's strange.

I normally have a regular 28/30 day cycle, so I am guessing that its the tablets that have knocked me off balance.....I too am taking the tablets for rosacea. I hope that these tablets dont knock me totally off balance, we are supposed to be TTC now but had to delay because of taking the tabs, so I really really hope that they dont knock me off balance for long :cry:

I specifically asked for erythro to avoid the problems with ttc on oxytet. It's very annoying though if it IS the antib's causing the problem :hissyfit: . It's totally thrown our ttc :-(

Well, still nothing - currently CD 35 - so annoyed if these tablets have thrown me off cycle, like you our TTC plans are now totally thrown...:rant:

I just didn't think it was possible as I googled it and couldn't find anything. It just struck me as odd that was the only different thing the last 2 cycles ! The worst thing ? My skin's still crap :cry:

Thanks ! I'm currently 6 or 7 DPO with a slight increase in CM, prickly boobs and very tired. Keeping everything crossed :smile:
