And if I'm not mad is Amsterdam a good place with stuff to do for little ones? (Trying to go somewhere which is nearish and a cheapy airline flies to!!).

We're going to the Neatherlands for 10 days in September and although we'll be close to Amsterdam I don't thoink we'll go. I've talked to a few people who have been there and have said its just not kiddy friendly. I can just imagine what my 3 1/2 year old would be asking in the red light district!!!! Also I'd wnat to go to Anne Franks house and stuff like that which would bore the two of them sensless I reckon. We had friends who took theire 4 and 7 year old last year and said they wished they hadn't. I'm gonna to try and get their godmother or grandparents to take them for a long week so me and DH can go by ourselves.

Hi schnapps

Me and hubby go to Amsterdam pretty often, we've only took the kids once and that was on the ferry with DFDS. It was only a day trip (8hrs) so we didn't really get a chance to do very much as Amsterdam is a big place and the attractions are spread out a bit.
We are planning on taking them again but this time we're going to stay over for a night.
We knew about the Artis Zoo, which I think is on the outskirts, but there is a science museum near the Central Station and we've also found out about a big play area that has been built in what was an underground car park, it's called Tun Fun.

hope this helps you

To be honest I am not sure I would go to amsterdam with small kids as its not really that child friendly with regards to getting around. Loads of people, bikes, trams and wonky streets. Tho of course people do live there and have kids and they manage but not really good for sight seeing.

What about the hague and then you could go to Madurodam where they have the Netherlands in miniture actually quite cool really and then the beach is really close by.

Mind you if you are really big city people then a'dam could be fine but its not really my thing. I hate having to go to the place when people come to visit me and now I can use kiddies as an excuse

Let me know if you want anymore info about the netherlands.
