Congratulations Spritzer honey:ellie: . I thought you looked a bit lonely over here so I shall join you if you don't mind :cheer2:

Yes I did a "Spritzer" AND a "Katkinn" by getting a BFP 2 weeks after starting the mini pill (obviously not suited to a seive-brain like me!) AND by conceiving in Sharm el Sheik :faint:

To say I am still in shock is a mahoosive undergarment, but i *think* my head is slowly coming to terms with it! Because of the Mini-Pill I haven't actually missed a period so I'm not sure of my dates yet. I thought about 5 weeks BUT the line on the hpt is so faint that it reminds me of last time- I was just under 4 weeks then, so who knows?

I started to get stretching feelings in my tummy about 2 days ago & knew straight away, but I waited until today to test. I haven't posted an announcement yet. I have shared the news with SH, BB, Skibunny & now you! Lets see how long before anyone else notices!

I am going to hedge my bets early btw & predict a girl for you & a boy for me :ellie:

Embarrassingly, Mr S and I bought the double buggy at the weekend:oops: :brainache:

Stupidly early but stupidly good value and so we pounced. Ah well, there's always ebay if needed (or the lovely damsels)

How are you feeling? I have the rank taste in my mouth and stretchy feelings in my tum, ocassionally feel a bit sick and tired but nothing major. My boobs don't hurt as much but are growing nicely:faint:.

I don't have a constant headache this time which is why I think I am having a girl - it is a common symptom with boys apparently. I also think I will probably be the size of a house by the end.

Thanks again Damsels & :ellie: Spritzer- glad to be keeping you company honey!

I have to say I have very few symptoms so far- infact it is making me paranoid that it is all a big mistake! I KNOW I am- until yesterday I had all the twitching, stretching feelings in my tummy, my nose is completely dry (forgot about that symptom from last time!) but that is it. Yesterday & today I don't feel pg at all  Last night I checked the stick again & couldn't see the line which made me even worse... of course it was at night & I couldn't see it in the false light. It is still there this morning! :loco:

BUT in my panic last night I did another test & there is no line :hissyfit: so now I am paranoid again. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGHHHHH

Please tell me you felt like this a few weeks ago! I am almost wanting the sickness to put my mind at rest :zombie:

Seeing as it is early on and you did the test at night the hormones were probably too diluted to show up, especially if you had drunk a lot in the day. I know the stretchy feeling has come and gone on and off and I keep thinking it's the start of the end and then it goes away and I realise that it is wind or some other glamorous thing.

My symptoms certainly seem to come and go and I keep having to prod my boobs to reassure myself. I know what you mean about wanting the symptoms to really kick in to reassure yourself but I know we'd regret it if they actually did! I seem to be getting off lightly so far this time round so perhaps the same is happening for you. don't forget that we have done it before and so our bodies know what to do this time and so may react differently to the hormones. Also, if you are having a boy you may not feel the same at all.

Keep me posted!

Hello Ladies  can I join in?

According to my dates I’m due 11th Feb.

So far I don’t really have any symptoms at all apart from being really tired all the time. I’ve not been to the doctors yet, I think I’ll leave it until I get back from holiday.

I hope you are all well.

 Lon- welcome welcome welcome!

I am still pretty symptomless too atm. I am now paranoid that I have had an early miscarriage as I did ANOTHER test & it was negative. However it was a different brand so I am going to test AGAIN tomorrow with the same brand as the 1st one (which obviously was positive). I also have an appointment with the Doctor on Wednesday to confirm it once & for all.

It is driving me crazy :loco: My main positives however are:

1. A line is a line
2. I FEEL pregnant- tummy stretching, tightness of trousers, craving fruit.
3. I haven't had a bleed (therefore no period either of course!)

So I am working on the assumption that I AM pg, I just haven't a clue how MUCH pg (and neither do the hpt's apparently  )

Grrrrrrrrr not being able to read the previous posts while typing is really annoying me! I would have commented on your post more Lon but I can't remember it!

Hello

Sorry I’ve not been around for a bit we have just got back from a week in Spain, which was bloody awful, I’m never going away with OH’s folks again.

Anyway a bit about me I’m 23 and I live with OH, our little boy William and Vinny our dog. We have been together for 6 and a half years and plan to get married about a year after the little one arrives. We are currently trying to sell our house but it isn’t going well (14 viewings and no bloody offers) we have seen somewhere we like but we cant make an offer on it until we sell.

So how is everyone feeling? I still have no symptoms at all. I keep meaning to make an appointment to go and see the doctor but I haven’t got round to it yet and we haven’t told anyone yet.

I hope you are all well

Hi Lon,

I didn't bother with seeing the docs this time. I just phoned up and told them and asked if I really needed to come in and they said just to phone the MW. I just phoned her up and we did the preliminary booking chat, arranged the scan and the big booking in appt and it was all done as easy as anything:ellie:

My main symptom is tiredness so far. I do feel a bit sick in the evenings if I am hungry but I seem to be getting off really lightly so far so fingers crossed that it lasts:clap: I've got the tender boobs, yucky taste and indigestion thing going on so enough to know it's all happening but not so much that it interferes with my life so I guess that is good.

Hello

How are we all doing?

I finally called the doctors and got them to put me down in the midwife book, so now I just have to wait for a letter with my booking in appointment.

I’ve been so tired recently, I’ve been going to bed at 9 most nights. So far I’ve not got any morning sickness, fingers crossed I don’t get it this time.

I hope you are all well.

 Girls, how are we doing?

I've no mega symptoms yet either Lon, besides mega tiredness, sensitive nips & a tender tum. Some trousers are too tight for me already- not because I've put any weight on but because it feels uncomfortable when I sit down.

Besides that everything is going great, touch wood, spit to the wind & all that! I have my first MW apt next Tuesday so we shall see if she has anything to say about how far gone I am. I am currently guessing at 7 1/2 weeks. Last time the sickness kicked in at 8 weeks so it remains to be seen as to whether I shall suffer this time or not!

We have been very naughty & have told most people now  DHs fault! We broke it to the family because we had a wedding last week & they would have guessed with me not drinking, but he then took it as a licence to tell his staff, customers & mates! :happyno:

How about you guys? Have you told anyone yet? It is too hard to keep it a secret for me

hi and congrats to everyone, can i join in??

Ive just found out im 5 weeks and 5 days and due around the 20th feb! This is my second as i have got Jack who will be 1 on the 7th july.

i dont have any real symptoms yet, only tired, more hungry and weeing loads. I did find my tongue piercing got uncomfy again (had it with jack) it just didnt seem to sit right. Also with Jack i had morning sickness which started at this stage.

We have only told my mum at the mo, will wait a bit longer till we tell anyone else.

 Lisa. Congratulations! - We are finally getting a little gang together! :ellie:

I am starting to feel nauseous now if i don't eat after a while- exactly the same as with Jen & at exactly the same time too (coming up to 8 weeks- i think)

If it weren't for the excess blubber on my tummy, I am sure I would have the start of a bump too! My tum is feeling harder- especially around the sides & top (it will be a while before the jelly belly toughens up!) Loks like I might start showing earlier than last time. I think it was around 18 weks when I could discern a bump.

I had my first MW appointment today  It went really well & she seems lovely. My 1st scan is booked for 17th July so we will find out once & for all just how far gone I am! :cheer2:

We need to get more chatty girls:grin: Or, should we have a 1st Trimester thread instead to lure more people in?

Anyway, I seem to be a bit less tired this week than last:ellie: my boobies are the size of Russia (Mr S well chuffed with this development) and I have a weird appetite that comes and goes and I can quite happily go off what I am cooking for dinner in the course of me starting the cooking and the dishing up:rolleyes:

I have my booking in appt on July 20th and my scan on the 25th. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat:grin: That was so fantastic last time (and always made me cry) My MW could detect it at 12 weeks last time so I am hoping it will be the same this time. It made the scan a lot less stressful last time as we knew there was a baby in there:lol:

My clothes are beginning to feel a bit tight and I think I'll be moving into mat gear relatively soon as it is so much more comfy on the tummy and really helps with feeling sick etc. So glamorous!

28-06-2006, 07:07pm
i got my booking in appointment on the 19th july, ill be 9 weeks then, they like to see you between 8 and 12 weeks then ill get a letter through for my scan (as close to 12 weeks as poss, or so i was told last time.)

I too loved hearing the heartbeat and also my midwife picked it up at 12 weeks, made my day hearing it!

Does everyone know what hospitals they are going to? I going back to Queens medical centre as they was brill with us last time plus i know where everything is lol I got to start checking my blood sugar levels early this time, lovely!

My tum is already feeling firmer, it was so stretched from jack it felt like a deflated ballon!

I'm definitely going back to Eastbourne DGH as the delivery suite is excellent and the MWs are fantastic. Maternity ward was so busy last time it's hard to judge but I'm not so bothered anyway as this is no 2 and they only have 4 beds per ward so it is pretty good by some standards.

I can definitely feel something in my tummy if I lie on my front:ellie: But I seem to be expanding in all directions at the moment so I think it'll be hard to see a bump for a while.

Can't wait for my boobs to be less sore as this does not work well with a toddler - also am getting fed up with the yucky taste but I am expecting this to go soon.

Well we moved Cities in January so I shall be going to a totally new hospital- in both senses. Derby City General is new to me & newly build maternity ward I do believe!

Only 3 weeks to by scan which I am very excited about. I can't believe how laid back I feel this time round though. This stage dragged & dragged last time but 2nd time round- i'm 8 weeks already & have hardly thought about it.

It sounds like we are all *blossoming* at about the same rate! I am wearing elsticated waist trews & even wore some mat trews last week becaiuse everything else was in the wash! DH thought the bump had bloomed until I pointed out the stylish waistband was doing me no flavours

I’m going to look into having a home birth this time, there was nothing that wrong with the hospital I had William in the midwife that delivered him was lovely. But I didn’t find the ward staff to be very helpful or even that pleasant and I was having problems feeding William and they were no help whatsoever and received the helpful comment that if I didn’t stay in overnight ‘that baby will end up being bottle fed’.

I’ve got my booking in appointment on the 4th (Williams first birthday) and the midwife is coming to the house to do it.

Hello girlies, can I join February mums please?

I'm 31, been with my boyfriend for 6 years (6 years last week funnily enough!) and found out I was preggers Tuesday just gone. I came off the pill in November and my periods have been all over the place so I'm not sure how many weeks I am but the doctor is saying about 8 weeks so I'm hoping that is the case rather than about 5 weeks as it's 3 more weeks out the way  .

The few weeks before I knew I was pregnant I went to Ibiza for 2 weeks where I went clubbing, drank and danced :cheer: :champers: :dancebig: :dj:
Then when I got back I went to the Take That concert where there was more of the above so to find out I was pregnant a few days later was a shock!!!

I'm excited but worried at the mo till I have my first scan (12w), I'm seeing the Midwife in August so think the scan will be first.

It's our first one. :lurve: Wishing you all a healthy and happy pregnancy! x

Hey GATC- Glad you made it over  Don't worry about the drinking. I did it for both pregnancies now (before I knew obviously!) The little bean survives on the egg for the first blah blah weeks anyway so the alcohol you drank would not affect it in any way. I think it is not until week 7 or so that the umbilical cord starts to develop & even later before it is used (this is all a bit shady as I am remembering it fom my 1st pregnancy...haven't even picked up a book this time)

Boo Lisa82! :hissyfit: But I guess you could keep posting with us until you find out for sure  I'm unsure of my dates too but will find out in 2 weeks at my scan.....OMG 2 weeks  how fast has that gone

Hi there  is anyone else getting a pain in their right hand side, lower belly? It feels a bit like a period pain?

spritzer
03-07-2006, 10:00am
Hi GATC,

The pains, if they are sharpish and come and go, are probably stretching pains as your tendons all start to accomodate your womb. I've had them really badly this time - enough to almost knock me off my feet.

You only need to worry if they continue over a period of time (more than 24 hours) or if you have bleeding or fever or anything unusual - or if they are absolute agony (then it could be your appendix)

Put your feet up for half an hour when it happens and you'll be fine.

Girl And The City
03-07-2006, 10:05am
Hi Spritzer! They are not really sharp pains, just a slight aching pain. I've had it on and off for about 3 weeks really. I thought it was period pains till I found out I was preggers.

The whole dating thing is a bit of a lottery anyway - I could just as easily end up a Jan mummy - you can only tell at the scan and ultimately when the bubs arrives!

As there aren't that many of us over here it tends to be more 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester anyway rather than months and with people pitching in where they can help.

Hello Ladies

It is so hot here today I’m absolutely roasting.

I went out to get William weighed today and he is now 29lb 3oz and he will be 1 tomorrow.

I have got my booking in appointment tomorrow too, the midwife is coming to the house so that is good.

I’m still feeling ok except being tired, hungry and my boobs are killing me.

I’ve been eating lots of sweets as that is all I really fancy so maybe this one is a girl :scratchchin: , but then when I was pregnant with William I couldn’t eat anything at this stage. I’m so impatient I want to know now if it is a boy or girl :hissyfit:.

We can’t really decide on any names though.

I had one last time at 7 weeks because I had a slight bleed. It is for reassurance in the early days & only done if you (or they) think there might be a problem. At 7 weeks all I could see was a wee bean BUT you could see a heartbeat :heartbeat:

Hello Ladies

I hope you are all well.

How is everyone doing? I’m still tired all the time and really hungry but I can’t eat a lot in one go so I’m constantly picking at food all day. I’ve also been getting a lot of pain on the lower right side of my tummy but that could be trapped wind or the delightful constipation I seem to have at the mo.

I keep worrying that there is something wrong as with William I had really awful morning sickness from the start until 16 weeks and this time I’ve not had any.

I’ve got my scan on the 28th July. When are your scans?

After a couple of weeks of feeling soooooooooooo tired, Tuesday i felt amazing and full of energy :loco: what was that all about?? I am back to feeling exhausted again now!!

I am starting to get a few symptoms now, certain smells make me want to be physcially sick and I have to eat the foods I fancy otherwise I cant eat them without feeling sick. The hunger has settled a bit now too.

I have just booked a nuchal fold scan at my local private hospital for 4th August, the day before we go on hols. Really looking forward to it and also a bit scared that everything wont be ok. But we will see

Hi- good to hear how you are doing.

Lon- i'm very symptomless too & have been reassured that it is normal! My scan is on Monday 17th  so it will be a relief to actually see the baby & know everything is OK. :fingerscrossed:

I've had a touch of the delightful constipation too which gives me a stitch type pain. I'm so glad it's not just me :teehee: What else? Nips are not half as tender as last time, hardly feel sick at all unlike last time, tiredness- especially late afternoon- exactly like last time!

I guess I do have some symptoms afterall :scratchchin:

Hi there, can I join you too. Was signed up to the other place but it was crap so someone very nice, emailed me this website. Much better, more like the old bag was.

Am due with second on 9th Feb. Have a georgous daughter already who is 13 months old today whose name is Lene (pronounced Lenny).

Feel sick every day, hurrah, the joys... never want anything remotely healthy to eat, chips chips and more chips... oh and the odd lamb rogan josh goes down a treat. Apart from being sicky and tired had a pretty easy time last time with a pretty easy labour 5 hours. So am hoping that this one will follow suit in all ways. Am also hoping for a labour like claire from corrie...two pushes and its out. Am 38 so this is probably it for us. Predicting a pink but don't mind. Only becuase its what we know and have so many lovely clothes it seems such a waste not to use them again.

Hi to all

Hello, I am going to finally join you! Was too scared before hand as I joined in the April Mummies thread on the bag last August then propmtly m/c'd. Had an early scan yesterday though which shows that all is currently well and am 8 + 2, due 25th Feb.

Symptoms haven't been as intense this time as they were with Thomas, who is 2 1/2 (cue lots of worrying as to why they weren't as strong! Esp as the last time I m/c'd I didn't really get any symptoms, but did with the first).

Symptoms so far are nausea, on and off, boobs feeling like they are ever growing and tender and some smells making me feel queasy. Have been feeling a bit tired in the afternoons sometimes (oh why can't Thomas go back to having a daytime nap?!) but it usually goes by the evening. With Thomas the tiredness and sickness were much worse. I suppose it is better to be this way around with a toddler already in tow though!

I didn't realise you were pg again Mad Cow - congratulations to you!

Unfortunately I won't be giving birth in the hospital where I had Thomas (which was bl00dy fantastic) as we have just moved house. It also looks like most of the hospitals in the area we've moved to are closing, which is great. Thomas came quite quickly once I went into labour so I don't fancy having a trek to hospital. I guess I'll find out more though when I speak to the MW (who I haven't booked in with yet  - must do that soon).

How is everyone else doing?

Hello Florence

How did your booking in appointment go Spritzer?

My paranoia got the better of me yesterday because of my lack of symptoms I tested again and it was positive. I do feel a bit of an idiot now though.

I hope everyone is feeling well.

Hello everyone

I hope you all had nice weekends, we didn’t do much this weekend at all, OH was mostly trying to do something with the garden so it stops putting people off buying our house it does look a lot better but we still need to get some furniture out there.

I got a few things from the Next sale for when I start to get bigger, I got some brown turn top trousers that everyone raves about for £8.49, a pair of blue jeans for £12.49 and a couple of tops.

I also sorted my old maternity clothes out and I still fit in my Jeans and a pair of green combats so now I just need some more tops and I should be pretty much sorted until the really cold weather starts.

How was your scan Iwb?

Glad your booking in went well Spritzer  and lucky you getting to hear the heart beat, I didn’t until 28 weeks last time. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

I do not like the heat at all ether, it is driving me nuts especially as some nights it has been disturbing my sleep. William is covered in heat rash and we haven’t even been out of the house much and he is getting two molars at the same time so he is a bundle of fun at the mo, poor little monkey.

I hope everyone is well

hi there,

My scan went well and now we have told our families and some of our friends. Am still doing that bit. But so far it is a "text book" case.... which is always nice to hear. Have a wait about 10 days for the nucol scan blood tests but he said that so far it all looked fine.

Finally have date for my booking in with the midwife, next monday. So by the time I get a scan from the hospital the baby will have grown loads.

Lon - I have some of those trousers from next in black they have survived my pregnancy, my SIL's pregnancy and hopefully this one. They are a god send....

Hiya,

Scan went really well - lovely big baby in there wriggling around and looking soooo cute:lurve:  Shallow mummy got the sonographer to try and move the baby into a better position for the photo shoot:oops:

Lon - this scan was really quick so I reckon you could take william if needed - it's the 20 week one that is much more in depth and takes a long time. We were probably only in there 10-15 mins. Ideally I would say ask someone to have him for you so you can relax and concentrate but if there's no option then it should be fine this time round.

I am now so desperate for this weather to break it is unfunny - I am frazzled by it:brainache:

Mr S was lovely yesterday and bought me a whole load of mat gear (H&M sales bargains:lol: ) so at least I have something to fit over my huge tummy. Seems silly to buy summer stuff now but I cannot fit into my old stuff and we are going on hols in October when I'll be nearly 6 months and the shops here will be full of woolies:rolleyes:

Hope your scan goes well on Friday:ellie:

I am taking Lene with me for my scan tomorrow as OH can't make it. And have no one to look after her. I checked with the hospital and they said it was fine. Except she looks like she has the chicken pox but doesn't luckily... so everyone will probably move away from us.... am not going to tell them that I had a nucol scan as they then won't do the scan. Haven't got my bloods back anyway so will tell them when i have.

Have a lovely long weekend this weekend, Friday and Monday off work, hurrrahhhhhh.

Lon, i hope you don't ming me jumping in.

Are you having your scan at the WSH, if so it will be fine to take William.
There are toys in the waiting room and they don't mind you taking them in the room whilst you have the scan.
It's only at the 20 week one where they don't allow children because they have to have silence in the room whilst the scan is being done.

I hope the scan goes well for you.

Lon
27-07-2006, 10:05am
Yes it’s at WSH.

I remember there was a few toys in the waiting room from the last time I was there. I was just worried as we were there for an hour and a half with the scan, blood tests, seeing the midwife about the triple test and me running to the loo every 15mins throwing up.

I suppose OH will just have to amuse him while I’m having the blood tests and that done, I will defiantly get someone to look after him for the 20 week scan though.

Thank you for letting me know.

Hows everyone coping I this heat? The last couple of days have been unbearable for me, I feel as if I am melting - well at least I am not 8 months pg in this heat

I had a huge wobble on Tuesday night, dont know if you have seen my thread, about the birth and not wanting to go through the same horrific experience I had with Alfie. I need to discuss all the options with my MW and a consultant, but i havent had my booking in appointment yet?

Hi Mad Cow

I think most people have been booked in with the midwife except Iwb I think :puzzled: . They like to book you in early in my area usually between 6 and 8 weeks. Perhaps you should chase them up about it.

Iwb I hope you enjoy your long weekend.

Yes,i'm due in January.
I had Daisy there November 2005, so i still have quite vivid memories of the place, although TBH it wasn't as bad as some other hospitals that i have heard about.

I'm with Abbey midwives, although i'm under a consultant too because of my age. Last time i only got to see the consultant at my 2 scans, but because Daisy had a low birth weight i am booked in for another consultation and scan at 32 weeks.

I only had my first scan on Tuesday at 14 weeks because i didn't find out i was pregnant until a few weeks ago, due to erratic periods etc since Daisy.
DH came with Daisy and she was in the room when i had a scan, but he had to take her out as soon as the scan was finished because she was getting niggly and i knew i was going to be in there for a good while longer because of bloods, midwife and consultant.
My scan was at 9.00am and i got out at 11.30, although it would have been shorter if i didn't have to see the consultant.

Lon

Apparently they have redone the CDS, but my midwife said that all they have done is paint the rooms lilac, it was pretty grotty when I was there last year.

I’ve just checked my notes and I’m with the Abbey Midwifes too, apparently they took over the Victoria surgery from the Lark team as they were too busy. I have no idea why I though it was the Gainsborough midwives though :puzzled: , I think the weather is making me more of a sieve head than normal.

I didn’t realise there were any Damsels that live near me :cheer2: . I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.

Hi,

I'm so pleased that everyone who has had scans recently has got on well! It is lovely to see them and finally start believing that there is a baby in there, isn't it?!

I'm not booked in with a mw yet, either. Although that is probably because we moved house about a month ago and I only changed my GP a couple of weeks back. I've got a registration medical on Weds so will ask about booking in then. I've been led to believe that Wilts is the same as BANES (where I lived before) for care throughout pg, so I presume they do booking in appointments at 12 wks here.

You are all so lucky to be getting early scans. They don't do them here unless there is a problem (hence I got one with spotting) until 20 wks. If we want the nuchal fold scan then we have to pay for it. I'm 30 so not at a high risk of having a Down's baby, so what with the move etc we are going to save our money this time. :-( Would have been nice to have seen the baby again though! If I hadn't had the early scan then we would have booked in for a nuchal scan. I guess I shall have to be content to just listening to the heartbeat until 20 wks!

I'm so pleased that the weather seems to be breaking. I've been trying to potty train Thomas (great fun :yeahright: ) but going out in the garden has been a bit impossible as there aren't really any shady spots and it is too hot! It has still been uite muggy today.

Do any of you suffer with migraines? I had one yesterday and couldn't take anything for it other than paracetamol, so if any of you know of anything else I can do/take I'm open to suggestions! Luckily it has eased to a dull headache today.

Good luck for those of you left who have scans coming up.

hi there, I do get migranes but thankfully not very often when pregnant but still get quite a lot of headaches. If I do get a migrane what I do is take some soluble paracetamol as they are better for your stomach and as Lon said use one of those cool head thingys. Which I think really help.

Will have to try and scan my hospital scan picture in.

We have to pay for our nucol scans too, they don't do them as standard were we live, but being 38 am at a higher risk I suppose.

Have had a lovely long weekend with Lene but am back at work tomorrow. Think I will start counting down the days to Christmas now till I go on maternity leave. Forward planning I know but I just want to spend more time with Lene.

hope you all had good weekends.

Awww what a lovely scan piccie, I am even more excited about having my scan on Friday now!! Cant wait to see our little bobble again. We are having to pay for this scan too as they only offer 20 week scans in our area.

I gave in and rung my MW on Friday and will be having my booking in appointment with her on Wednesday.

I am counting the days now until Friday as we are driving down to St Ives Friday night and we will have a whole 2 weeks holiday. I cant wait I desperately need a holiday and it wil be so lovely to spend quality time with DH and Alfie, just the three of us - for the last time!!!!!

I too am glad the weather has cooled down a bit, I was suffering so badly.

Hi Lon
My booking in appointment went really well, she took loads of blood, did a wee sample and blood pressure. Just waiting for the results now. We discussed when I would meet with my consultant, hopefully the same day that I have my 20 week scan, to discuss going for and elective c-section this time so that was quite good. But the most wonderful thing was hearing the heart beat, I really didn't think the mw would be able to find it but she did - it was lovely and reminded me that there is a real live baby in there!! I am even more excited about our scan on Friday now. I will try and post afterwards to let you all know how the scan goes.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Hi there, finally had my booking in with the midwife on Saturday morning, it took hours!!!! literally. It was this new form that they are now using, do you all have this one? Its green. They asked me such weird questions, like "is the baby your husbands?" I was like, well yes, but what else would I say with him sitting two feet away!!! Are they mad? They also went all through everything again, which considering my 1 year old was sitting with OH you'd think I have some idea about Vit K, etc. Have decided they are all crazy. They want us to consider a home birth as I our first in 5 hours from start to finish. I said I woudl consider it, and the answer was no! They didn't seem to pleased by that, they tehn went on to tell me how wonderful it could be with my daughter around I was like yeah whatever whatever happens I won't be needing her help during labour...

They didn't seem to pleased by that, they tehn went on to tell me how wonderful it could be with my daughter around I was like yeah whatever whatever happens I won't be needing her help during labour...

OMG! Surely it is up to you to decide where you want your baby to be born (unless he/she arrives a lot quicker than planned and has other ideas!  ). I live in West Wiltshire and they are closing all of the hospitals here, with the idea that most Mum's should be having home births. I had a quick and easy labour with Thomas, too, but I don't think I will be opting for a homebirth. I like the security of knowing that a hospital has everything I need if something were to happen. Also, I personally think it would be a bit traumatic for a toddler to watch, so wouldn't want Thomas with me! I can imagine he'd be asking me loads of questions about it, too...

I still haven't had my booking in appointment yet. I had a registration check up with the nurse at my new surgery last week and asked when I need to see the mw. I was told to book an appointment with my GP for 12 wks, which will be next Monday and I have made the appointment, so we will wait and see.

Nausea has been getting a bit worse over the last week, which I'm quite glad about as it is reassuring to be getting symptoms - I've been spotting for the past week on and off, too. Also mentioned this to the nurse but was told they won't give me another scan unless I'm in agony or the blood turns fresh and in greater amounts. Still, the nausea is nowhere near is bad as it was with Thomas!

Is everybody past the 12 wk mark yet? I know I'm due at the end of Feb, so I'm assuming I will be one of the last on here to pass it!

Has anyone put on weight yet? I've put on nearly 1/2 stone already  although I think that some of it was eating lots of takeaways with moving house at 5 1/2 wks. Also been eating to try to stave off the nausea a bit. Hopefully it will calm down a lot in the 2nd trimester. I put on 3 stone with Thomas and I don't want to go there again!

I hope that everyone else is doing well!

Hello Ladies

How are we all doing?

I can defiantly feel the start of a bump now :ellie: , the bottom of my stomach is starting to firm up, OH calls it my baby pod.

We have finally told everyone now and my Mum is so excited, though most people said so you will want a girl this time then? But I’m really not bothered ether way.

Our house still hasn’t sold, but the market around this area goes very quiet during the summer holidays so I’m not panicking too much just yet.

Lwb the midwife that booked me in was very much like that really over explaining everything but she was a student midwife in her final year of training. I wasn’t impressed with her when I told her about the student midwife that I saw at hospital when I was in labour was going to send me home when I went in without even examining me and I was already 4cm at that point, she just brushed said oh we do some times send people home when they are 4cms but I know that is not true at our hospital. Have you had your nucol scan blood test results yet?

I actually am considering having a home birth this time mostly as I can’t stand hospitals and I can have pethadin (sp) at home. But I wouldn’t appreciate being pushed into one and William will be going to my Mums.

Florence, sorry to hear you are still feeling rough. I have actually lost ½ a stone so far, but I’m very over weight in the frist place. Last time with William I lost a stone and a half in the first 16 weeks as I was so ill, then at the end of my pregnancy I was ½ a stone under my pre pregnancy weight.

Hiya:wave: Me and smidge are fine - getting bigger by the second, or so it seems. The time seems to be flying by and I am getting quite excited about the idea of having a baby around the place.

Feel very sad that I am just not interested in shopping at the moment. Lucky really as I am not exactly flush atm but I really enjoy going to the shops normally and have just found it boring, crowded and frustrating lately and would rather be at home. Oh well, it's not like I could fit into any of the sales bargains anyway.

We need to have a major clear out at home as we'll need to get rid of loads of stuff to give up the spare room for the baby. The decluttering is well overdue and I'll feel so much better once it's done and we can start making plans for smidge's arrival. I can feel a few bootfairs coming on, some selling on damsels classifieds and a lot of visits to the charity shop.

We've basically had to tell people now as I can't hide it any longer. Am quite slender I suppose so having a sticky out stomach is quite obvious!!! One girl at work cried!!!!! Have got back my nucol scan results for my age (38) it bacme back at 1 : 153 but afte teh bloods etc it was 1: 3950 so pretty good odds really.

had to go to the dr's this morning, have the luverly, pregnancy thrush, does anyone else get this? Never ever have it normally but got it with Lene and again this time.

Lon everyone says to us, oh I bet you want a boy this time, but we say eiher is fine by us, as we would like Lene to have a sister as it was something that I always wanted and OH says he wouldn't know what to do with a boy!!! I am sure he would work it would just a smaller version of himself!! Also have boxes and boxes of pink clothes too.

Feel okay in myself, still being sick and feeling motion sick all day long which I hate, but get used to it. Still can't find much that I want to eat, never ever feel hungry like I normally do.

They said on teh radio this morning that it was 130 something odd days till christmas which means it is 130 something odd days till I go on leave.... :ellie: hurrah

Lon
09-08-2006, 11:26am
Mad as it sounds I’ve started to think about Christmas, I am hoping to get most of my presents sorted out early as I don’t think I will want to got shopping in December when all the shops are crowded and far too hot with a toddler in tow.

Last year I had everyone’s presents sorted and wrapped by the 1st December which was a first for me I usually leave it all until the last minute. I defiantly want to do the same this year as I was able to enjoy the build up to Christmas without worrying what presents I still had to get.

Lwb I’m glad to hear your results are good. I used to get thrush quiet often but when I started washing all our clothes with non-bio it stopped and touch wood I haven’t had it since. I hope you get your appetite back soon, last time when I was really ill I got my appetite back in the last trimester with avengence, I was constantly eating all day long, but I could never manage big meals it was more little and often but all day.

I would have liked one last time but I wasn't sure how I would cope with the pain, my mw wouldn't administer pethidine at home and I didn't want to be in the position of knowing I couldn't have anything decent if I needed it. As it turns out it was 4.5 hours and with just a TENS machine so hopefully this one will be the same! The staying in overnight is a real sticking point with me, too. I had a stand up row with the mw in the hospital because she wouldn't let us go home   I'd love to be able to have my own bathroom to clean up in and snuggle up in my own bed with my DH rather than some boiling hot ward full of screaming tots and 1 loo and shower between 8 ladies

How is everyone doing?

My nausea seems to be stabilising a bit now - haven't really had it too much over the past couple of days. I get a bit nervy at this point though - the first trimester symptoms are disappearing but I won't get to hear the heartbeat/feel any movement for a few weeks yet so I shall just have to hope that Jr is ok in there!

We haven't had anyone ask if we want a girl this time, but then as I'm not 12 wks until Monday we haven't really told many people yet - just immediate family, Mum and Dad have also told their partners (don't count them as immediate as they aren't married and don't even live together! Can see Dad and his g/f doing that sometime soon though!).

We have had a couple of people say that this time they think we will have a girl though. I must admit I've had that gut feeling all the way through so far, too. I knew that Thomas would be a boy, even before I fell pg with him, I just knew that we'd have a boy first. With the 2 m/c's I didn't have any gut feelings about the sex, so maybe there is something in it???!!! :scratchchin:

Would any of you think about finding out the sex at the 20 wk scan, if you can where you live? We did with Thomas and I expect we will with this one. We had a lot of hassle with some family members and a woman I used to work with for finding out though.

Seeing the GP on Monday who will finally refer me to the mw!

Hope everyone else is well!
