It's not the clearest of sites, but she has some great tips for getting on top of mess.
Do you suffer from what she calls CHAOS - Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome?

Oh god do I ever! Honestly my house is sooo cluttered I have no idea what to do with most of it. I bought nice little boxes and things for my huge paper mountain on my desk to go in and they are still empty and I've got a shredder that never gets used and recycling is taking over my kitchen.
I signed up for the Flylady site when I lived at my last place (which was also a pigsty) but I just ended up getting annoyed with the constant cheery-cheeriness and stopped them

I just took a picture of my desk and now I'm to ashamed to post it

Damn you, Damz. It's strangely compulsive and I've just signed up to it. Mind you, I work for an American company so constant ceery-cheeriness pretty much washes over me. It's the Stepford Housewife aspect that disturbs me - wtf would I want a sink so shiny that no-one could put washing up in it?

I like being "Damz"
It's true about a shiny sink though - it really does help. A clean cooker top helps too.
So does a cleaner to come in and do it for you :P

I wouldn't put money on it Dams! The desk is supposed to close up nicely at the end of the day but it never does because it's too messy. There is no curtains because there is a crappy lean-to outside so I'm not overlooked. And curtains would get in the way of my lovely clean windowledge

This is my other thought. Is there a fly-lady lite (TM) for those of us who have someone in once a week, but are finding that there isn't much point as she can only hoover 1 square cm of floor in the middle of the room? Less with the cleaning and more with the ffs-you-don't-need-that-pile-of-cr@p-woman-throw-it-out stuff?
The other thing I have probs with - I cleaned the sink at night. I got up in the morning and the Nanny had generated a load of washing up and dumped it in the sink. She'll do it when she gets back from playgroup with Helena. I really don't buy flylady's suggestion to tell the rest of the household to leave the washing up in a bowl under the sink. Seems grim and unhygenic to me (plus it would have to be ONE HELL OF a bowl )
Ah, the agonies of having staff...

I've just read the home page of the flylady site and I'm loving it already. She promised to put my life in order! How cool is that? :P

I don't put my washing up under the sink (no space!) but I do have a big tub type thing I put the washing up in when I'm cooking. It really annoys me that I can't get to the taps to fill the kettle or drain pasta because there is too much stuff in there, or when i come to do the washing up I have to empty loads of cups of yukky cold water that has been in there last time someone turned the taps on. No-one else but me does it though so it's very inconsistent. As my mom lives here too it's a case of too many cooks make more mess

Ah. We have one of those twin-sinks sinks so I'm less bothered by that. And a lot of stuff (eg our VAST professional-catering size frying pan) that is too big to get in any normal washing up bowl. Where did you get your big tub type thingie?

It was just from my local discounty place, I have a serious plastic box habit!
I haven't got a twin sink so I wouldn't have to dump the washing up elsewhere if I had one I think. My kitchen needs replacing completely anyhow, the draining board slopes and all water collects in the corner, ick.

I've been on the flylady site all day now. I am obsessed. I've shined my sink 3 times and have done a bedtime routine. Can't wait for my instructions for tomorrow! I asked my husband if he wanted a Stepford Wife. Luckily he didn't know what one was
So, a new obsession to add to many others.
Ohh I love that site  I do have a slight cleaning addiction I can't stand it when there is clutter and mess........thats really said isn't it lol,

Damz, all those boxes on my desk pic are still EMPTY and most still have the cellophane still on. I got as far as printing some labels to go on the front and lost inspiration after 'Zachery' and 'Delilah' I promised myself I'd get ti done so I could post a 'Done' pic
I have an unnatural love of buying officey type items but rarely use them. I've got some filing trays I bought 3 months ago to put the stuff on the windowledge in but so far they have only got the TV guide in them and a pair of Del s socks, some cotton buds and a pot of vaseline

Yeah, I signed up to this too, but the blinking reminder emails really naffed me off after a few days, and the fact that they were always at the wrong time!! Telling me to go to bed at 2pm or something stupid like that
It is a great concept, but I think it maybe needs to be adapted for the UK audience.

I tried flylady about 18 months ago but she got on my nerves in the end! I couldn't be doing with all the dressed to your shoes nonsense. And as for shining my sink - mine don't shine as it's one of those cream coloured ones. My hotspots were raging infernos that I couldn't get under control unless I manned them 24 hours per day to prevent people dumping in them! I soon came to the conclusion that I'll wait 20 years for the kids to leave home, then dump my DH and I could finally have a tidy house ;) It's good to have long term goals

OMG I have never seen that site before.I really could do with something like that because this house is becoming really cluttered. I need to sort it out before baby arrives and makes it 10 times worse.

I'm on day 16 of learning how to fly and my house looks SO much better for it. I even started cleaning the inside of the oven door today. It hasn't been touched in 4 years.

Maybe she should practise what she preaches
To my shame my hubby is far tidier and a lot more organised than I am  Although I do love a clean and tidy kitchen and bathroom!
