No I've not started accosting people in the street!! There is a lady at playschool who seems to have a LOT of children and I didn't think they were hers and I wondered if she was a childminder. Nobody speaks to me at playschool as they all know each other and it's quite isolating. So today I went to pick P up and this lady was the first person there and she smiled so I plucked up the courage to talk to her. She IS a childminder and she goes to the local drop in group I've been meaning to go to (but haven't been as I'm too scared!) so she's asked for my card and said I have to go next week!!
So I am quite proud of myself as I'm painfully shy and a bit of a loner and it took a LOT for me to take that first step. Now I can go to the group next week with someone I know!!! Yay me:ellie:

Well done you  It is so hard to just pluck up the courage to talk to someone you dont know but often when you do you find that they have been wanting to talk to you to!!
Hope you enjoy your group then next week:thumb:

Well done :ellie:
I struggled with terrible shyness all through my teens, so I know how difficult it can make certain circumstances. You should be very proud of yourself.
It really does get easier.

Good on you:smile: Now don't wimp out of going next week!!!
I have been making sure I chat to ANYONE who looks like they won't bite me, since moving here, as I don't wanna be Frogslie no Friends (again). People aren't as friendly as in Wales, but at the toddler group most are really nice (a couple just talk to each other in their own little clique but that's usual everywhere) and I'm getting to know the people at the Post Office as I'm there every day doing my ebay stuff!!! I just find all you have to do is say hello, admire a baby or toddler, or discuss the weather. It's easy once you start and soon becomes a habit and not a big deal any more, but the fear of rejection is hard to overcome and during PMT week I honestly don't speak to anyone:happyno: My whole low confidence thing just comes up on me then and I can't face socialising!!!
 nice one Lois! I hope the group next week is good.

I don't think she'll let me LOL! We will see each other when we drop the children off at playschool on Tuesday morning so she'll drag me along afterwards!

She asked me to bring along my business cards to give out at the group. She says they are all full atm and get calls about vacancies and this way if they have my details they can pass them on!!!:thumb:
