Did you build your raised beds in the end? I was talking to DH last night and I remembered what you'd said. We just planted two more this week in the shade. One with herbs and one with lily of the valley and ferns.
We're replanting the three veg ones this weekend (if the seeds DH ordered show up in time!)
Can't wait to hear how it went. :thumb:

You must be psychic, LPP, as I've just finished the planting today!! We have built raised beds. But not quite so fancy as yours!! DH found a load of old wooden beer crates in our cellar, so I've used those - lined them with weed membane stuff to stop the compost falling through any gaps.
I've done mostly seeds, but some seedlings too.
I'll take a pic later to show you.
Thanks so much for the inspiration :flowers: !! Hope we get as good a result as you.

Finally downloaded the pics I took last week, LPP. I still need to tack up the membrane liner, so it looks a wee bit scrappy, but hopefully you get the idea.

:thumb: Looks fab. Great recycling.
I should prob. post a pic. of our new ones. Will do it tomorrow.
ETA: I'll post a pic of the earth boxes I was talking about too. They're self watering (reservoir in the bottom so they only take what they need, no overwatering) so even in this heat we only have to water once every three days. Which is fab when you have as many as we do
DH makes them himself out of big plastic tubs and pond baskets.

Thanks, LPP. Sorry we I suddenly disappeared from MSN - laptop decided to hibernate, and DH arrived home with Eilis so couldn't get back on line.
I'll look forward to seeing your earth boxes!

Ok, so here are the two latest shade SF boxes. They're full of bulbs but they're only just now sprouting. Lots of ferns and Lily of the valley in those two.

And here is a small section of the seedlings in the shed. There's parsely, tomatoes, cucumbers, chives, basil, Swiss Chard and some flowers in that lot.

Wow - that all looks great. I'd love a potting shed to do seedlings etc in. My veggie seeds are sprouting now - I'm going to have to do some serious thinning out soon!!
