Just been doing my (probably) last Ocado shop before madam makes an appearance and was trying to think about all the things that we usually have in the cupboards that I should stock up on...
So, what are your storecupboard essentials? Things that you just couldn't live without?
Ours are:
dry pasta
chopped tomatoes/sugocasa/passata
tuna
cereal
tinned pulses (never get my act together enough to soak them  )
good quality olive oil
couscous

I'm sure I've missed something out and will add later!

Anchovies - may seem silly, but they liven up any pasta dish and are great with lamb.

Would agree with most of that. Also:

Wholegrain mustard
Black peppercorns
Creme fraiche (keeps a while in the fridge)
Onions (keep a while in the veg basket)
Plastic cereal bar things (go ahead or similar) - not exactly gourmet, but a lifesaver for those times when you haven't got time to eat.
Bread in the freezer - ciabatta to cook in the oven, sliced and pitta bread will defrost/heat in the toaster
baked beans

Eggs! A very quick meal, however you do them. They keep for ages too.

Nice with sundried tomatoes and parmesan, which can both go on the list too!

Oooh, good post Shamu, I like to see what others can't do without too :thumb:

Ours are:

Lentils
Tinned pulses (same reason as you!)
Tinned tomatoes
Baked beans
Onions
Granary bread
Eggs
Sweetcorn (must be Green Giant, I could eat it every day!)
Almost all of my herbs and spices, I chuck them in wherever I fancy :loco:
Easy cook rice
Olive oil
Some kind of ready sauce in a jar, for those can't-be-arsed times :teehee:
Asda's fresh pizza in the freezer, for the same times as above!

There's probably more but that's it for now.

Ocado have started doing freezer cubes (like babyfood) of fresh garlic, ginger, chilli. Sounds like a storecupboard basic to me!

One thing I always like to have is Worcester Sauce - I use it in so many things.

for after the birth shamu, my life was saved by Jordan's original crunch honey and almond cereal bars. They are SO healthy but so tasty too. I know they feed you in the hospital, but I needed MORE!!

My list goes like this:

rice, pasta (linguine, sphagetti, penne, lasagne), cous cous, bulgar wheat, exotic rices (arborio, brown, wild, camargue red), noodles (rice and egg), barley for soups

pulses: lentils - brown, orange and puy; red kidney, haricot, borlotti, aduki, black beans. Green split peas and yellow split peas.

herbs and spices!

tins: baked beans, loadsa tinned tomatoes, coconut milk, tinned pulses, sardines, tuna

stock cubes, tomato puree,

jars: pesto (red, green and aubergine), sun blush tomatoes, olives, red or green curry pastes, pickled chillies

condiments: olive/ground nut/sesame/sunflower oil; vinegar: balsamic/red wine/cider; soy sauce. pickles, chutneys and jellies. mustards (all types), peanut butter (great in banana smoothies or in banana toasties, speshly with a bit of choc spread too, yum!)

eggs! lovely and restorative.

my DH cooked lots cos I couldn't right away, one time he made this gorge ham hock and veg/barley soup, it felt like it was mending me as I ate!

Also, my Dad and step mum came and brought bag fulls of lovely food such as breads, cheeses, dips, salads, olives, salami chorizo proscuito etc. etc. and it was damn fine being able to just eat straight from the fridge!
