Hi Girls,
Do any of you know much about DVT ? My sister may have it.

She was at the docs today as she had been complaining of really sore legs and he had a vein in particular that was causing a lot of pain...

she may have to get an operation and have it removed. I dont know a great deal about it all... but i know it can be serious.

Any info you have would be appreciated.

I had a pulmonary embolism when I was a teenager, and the doctors were surprised it hadn't started as a DVT

Deep Vein Thrombosis...I'm surprised that they are considering surgery for it though, usually they admit you and put you on blood thinners so that is dissolves.

sorry, I haven't been any help at all! Hope your sister is better soon.

Any ideas what caused it? Is she pregnant, on the pill, on a long haul flight recently?

Thanks for your feedback.

She is just back from a holiday to Lanzarote, but about a month ago she had been complaining of a very sore leg .. she works as a hairdresser and spends most of her days on her feet for very long periods of time.

I am putting it partly down to this.

When she went to the doc's initially they gave her some medication to thin the blood actually, but they have since said, they are removing a little vein bit in her leg and hopefully that should be it... so fingers crossed all goes well.

:luck: with your sister babes... Hopefully they will sort it for you hun....
I lost a school friend with DVT after she came home from Australia 6 years ago now, it was all over the news about it... but she showed no signs of it before hand and her mother is always on TV campaigning for the airline to do something about it!

At least the doctors are doing something about it babe!! :wik:
