It says i need to "offer" something first before responding to anyone else which i have done :thumb:
There is someone offering a faux leather sleigh bed (we have been after one of these for ages!) which sounds too good to be true, i have responded to their post (they posted yesterday and i just this second saw it and replied) what happens now??
Sorry i am a freecycle virgin so need some tips and some :help: on how to snap up bargains please

Different people offer on different basis - for some its first come first served and other make a conscious decision who to give to. I used to give my stuff on first come firsted served but after a number of abrupt, presumptious and downright rude emails I now wait and see what replies come in and offer it to someone who at least has the decency to be courteous and if they have a good reason for wanting it all the better. However saying that you never know how other people ar geoing to allocate so best to work on getting your reply in first - most of the things I've received have been when I have replied within minutes of getting the offer email.

I tend to just reply to those i'm interested in and then leave it. sometimes i am the first one to ask and so i am offered it, other times i get a second chance offer as the first person has let them down.
i will say though that if its something very coveted then i expect someone has probably beaten you to it.

I've just logged back on and someone has taken that bed   Oh well!!
So basically even if i'm the first to reply i still might not get it? :-( I will have to be super duper nice in my emails to them and just :fingerscrossed: and hope for the best!!
Thanks, i'm sure i will be back on soon with more questions

I know that in the email i got explaining the etiquette there was a suggestion that you wait overnight to see what replies you got and decided then - and if one of them was from a charity then consider giving it to them, but it's a suggestion rather than an instruction.
Do different groups have slightly different etiquette on this then?

I've had a couple of people from charities asking for one of my things, one wanted me to deliver it 15 miles away and I was not able to do it, so the other charity person collected it. It took me ages to work out the Yahoo mail system though!

I'm rather red faced to admit i didn't read the etiquette mailing. In future i shall try to make sure i pick the right person for the item.

I'm giving this away http://i2.tinypic.com/zn05t0.jpg and have had 16 replies overnight :faint:
Have just given it to someone, well they will be collecting it shortly :thumb: (one person just said "i want it!" how rude!!)
Can i just reply to the things coming in to my hotmail or am i supposed to go through the yahoo freecycle thing? I got excited and have replied through hotmail - hope this is right??
