I remember reading a few weeks back over on t'other side that a few of the April mums were having reflexology to help get things started. Does anyone have any experience of this? Have you heard of it? And did it work?
Thanks girls

I've been trying to contact a local reflexologist but she hasn't been returning my calls :bwahaha:
I've been told that accupuncture is particularly good for starting things off esp if you go overdue so I had a session today and have another booked for Tuesday. The therapist I'm seeing did a session for a friend and she went into labour the same afternoon so I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and everything else uncrossed  )

Never thought about having acupuncture. Have you had it done before shamu?
No this was my first time but I actually enjoyed it! And I'm VERY needle phobic  It was weird - a totally different sensation from having blood taken and it sort of spread out from where the needle was which is exactly what he said would happen. He did some work around my kidneys (apparently to help give me the strength for labour) and it feels all nice and warm there. Oh and I'm getting LOADS of Braxton Hicks - though I usually get quite a lot they seem more frequent....
If James goes down to sleep may try taking DH to the bedroom for some :adultcontent: in a minute...

I had reflexology throughout my last pregnancy and then 2 acupuncture sessions on and 3 days after my due date. I went into labour 6 days over and it was very quick.
Apparently there is research to show reflexology can help labour be quicker and apparently so can acupuncture. Both have been known to help bring on labour though.
I was induced first time around and so wanted to avoid that again if at all possible.

Hi Brewgirl
I was one of the April mums who has reflexology to bring labour on! It was lovely and all I wanted it for was to help the baby's head into the right position so the consultant could do a sweep.
I had it on the Tuesday, the consultant examined me on Thursday and I was 2cm dilated. I had Josephine on Sunday and it was extremely quick at 2 hours 41 mins  .
Totally recommend it - if it does nothing, it's a lovely treatment on your feet at a time when you could do with pampering.

I had 2 sessions of reflexology but they didn't help bring on labour. Lovely and relaxing though if nothing else
