Whats the deal on this then? :scratchchin: Is it OK these days? There is no way I could get away without a bra :boobies: but I'd like to be able to wear strapy tops. I think the clear plastic straps look as equally bad! Advice? :puzzled:

Oh I let them show, within reason. Not on purpose I'm no hussey you know. :happyno:
As long as they don't slip over your shoulders, I think it's quite a common site these days.

I too need a bit of scaffolding in that dept and couldn't let my puppies out - so I either wear a bra in a contrasting colour or wear a strapless bra. I thik bra straps look fine showing a long as it is under a normal strappy top and not under a halterneck, boobtube etc.

I prefer the plastic ones for strange-necked tops (IYSWIM). Strapless makes me many-boobed-woman.

My bra strap is almost always on show during the summe rwhen I'm wearing vest tops... that's why I have bought some pretty pink ones (which are pretty useless at support  ) to look lovely under black vests :) I don't think white straps look very nice though, because they're too underwearish IYSWIM, but black is also OK IMO unless the top is a light colour.

One problem I am having though is finding a good strapless bra to wear with my new summer dress because it has a crossed back so bra straps ruin the effect and braless isn't an option, not only because of support but because the material of the dress is a bit see though  again.

Sorry to hijack, but anyone know of any good strapless bras?

I let mine show not all tops can cover them properly but if i wear a white top il have a white bra black top black bra yellow top yellow bra etc etc

Not so noticeable then

OK so the consensus is that with regards to colour you should contrast rather than match?

My other problem with ample bosom is getting bras with thin straps. But I did manage to get a black one and a white one but don't have any funky colours.

I too would live to find a good strapless bra that I could trust and wouldn't give me double boobs!

I have this Chantelle bra.

http://www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=CE-2705&mci=&size=&colour=

It has been the only strapless bar to keep me in and up so to speak!!!!!!!

I am a DD and honestly it has fab support.

It does stand up all on it's own too if you put it down - it looks like a structure when off the body as it is pretty stiff but I am very pleased with mine!

I've heard that these http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/ProductList.aspx?cid=Clothing_Strappy+Tops&language=en-GB are great for the "ample bosomed" amongst us  I've not got the body for fitted strappy tops but if I did I'd probably invest in a couple (though they are V pricey....)

I prefer to wear strapless bras but since i bf i find them uncomfortable and feel like i'm pulling them up all the time. I LOATHE those plastic straps and i don't like seeing straps on show either but i understand some people NEED that extra support. If my straps are on show i try and match my bra to the outfit

I match my bra to the colour top I am wearing mainly. I do wear the plastic straps but only with halter tops (as a halter bra) as it looks better than a coloured strap. I hate plastic straps worn with strapless tops as it looks naff, you can sometimes get away with them with vests tho. Generally I never wear a strapless top without a strapless bra or it looks pants

Shamu, you   ! I've just ordered a bra - for nothing - using that link! Just in the process of updating my underwear drawer, and chucking out all my old stuff. (Couldn't bear it if our cases got searched as part of some routine thing, only for them to pull out my old greying bras!). Perfect timing.:cheer2:

Aww thanks Cherry
I've got to go and get measured for nursing bras tomorrow (well, I could wear the skanky ones from last time but  no way!) and am going to buy with the offer code as is DH on my behalf!!! Shame they aren't particularly sexy but free bras are :ellie:
Glad to help

Cheers for that link Shamu - all i've got to do now is pick a bra! I appear to have changed bra size since I last measured myself, I might take myself off to the shops and double check my size before I order anything online.

I'm one of those people who could almost be mistaken for a man so I have the opposite problem to you ample-bosomed ladies. On the plus side I can get away with wearing no bra!!

No - I got mine from a local shop.

I have just gone and checked mine - it's a 34D - I sometimes need a 34DD in some bras but this is a great fit.

Cherrypie did your order go through ok? I've just read the (rather long!) thread on MSE about the £20 voucher and it seems figleaves have pulled the offer and everyone's order has been cancelled :-( It was allegedly for 'selected customers' according to figleaves and they're not honouring them. I've not ordered anything yet so it looks like its not worth taking the time to pick something :-(

I have seen the same thing on the bag - loads of people got e mails today saying that their orders were cancelled due to the code being specific to one customer.

Sorry to hijack, but anyone know of any good strapless bras?

Another hijack here! Anyone know of any good non-padded strapless bras? I bought a Fantasie one and it seemed OK to start with, but tends to roll down at the top for some reason. I did get one cup size smaller than usual as the next size up was too roomy - could that be it? The size feels OK but obviously there's a problem somewhere!

I've never found a strapless bra that's comfortable and fitted right :sigh: Last time I wore a top that called for a strapless bra I just went bra-less (one advantage of having no boobs!)

I've found that if you wear this kind of vest top you don't tend to have a prob with straps on show:

alternatively I would just wear contrasting (but not black with white or vice versa iyswim)

NEXT do a thing to change the bra to a racing back, would that help?

 Chell, thankyou, but since this was over a year ago, I am no longer on a quest for a strapless bra :happyno:

I wonder why that other person bumped this... probably advertising.

La Senza have lots of brightly coloured bras and they've started doing bigger sizes for ladeez with extra boobage.

I have a couple in turquoise and bright pink.

I have a cream top with huge crystals on it and bits of turquoise. You can see the bra straps under it so I wear my turquoise bra.

I've never worn those plastic ones I think they look awful.

I used to be really careful about letting my bra straps show, and then I thought sod it, as it was so restricting.

All of my bras are like this (from Next)...

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/828/nextbrakh5.th.jpg (http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nextbrakh5.jpg)

They kind of have a double strap, alebit very thin ones.

Next change the colours and pattern every season, so I have a very colourful selection, to match various tops.

I have loads of those too  Although I do find the lace shows through some fabrics. The straps are really pretty.
