View Full Version : Help with finding new shoes...

Ok, Even though some might say I have too many shoes- I still want more!
I look at all these shoes and find a lot of them work inspired or evening shoes..
Eg. A lot of them are very high heels, grey or black or metallic.
I don't think they suit jeans really or dressed/skirts for that matter.
Now I still want heels (and flats for that matter) but want to look a tad more casual, now that I don't have to go to the office anymore!
As I'm sure you all know (those that *know* me) trainers and mules and the likes are absolutely NO NO- as are timberlands etc (for me ayway)
I wouldn't mind dressing like say (other stylish mums) Melanie Sykes, Jules Oliver, Gwyneth Paltrow, but what footwear do they wear??
I have scoured the shops and just cannot see any shoes that I really likehttp://forums.handbag.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
I mainly wear dresses these days or skirts, so has to be something that would go with that..
Also summer is coming so I ned shoes to reflect that..
Any suggestions would be so cool- preferably with pics & links- or what are you wearing this summer- I NEED to be inspired..

pS. oH AND i KNOW FLAT BALLETPUMPS WOULD BE THE obvious choice but they make me feel fat http://forums.handbag.com/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif and well, frumpyhttp://forums.handbag.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Ps. would be willing to buy from E-bay too, but am so rubbish at doing good searcheshttp://forums.handbag.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
pppppps. I'm 26 so want something young & funky IYSWIM

I know what you mean about the ballet flats. I really like the look of them and can imagine them with some of my skirts etc but they make me feel awful.
Do you do wedges?
I always look to the Faith website for inspiration! How about any of these?

Not particularly the colours, more the style?

I like wedges yes, I have 1 pair of tan ones.
I love ankle straps but feel fat in those too:teehee:
I like the second pair as well, but have a feeling they'd fly off, IYSWIM, they look nice though..
What are you wearing with all your new clothes J?

Dont get me started on that!! I am looking for a nice pair of shoes, perhaps wedges in a natural/cream/beige colour - with no ankle strap. Going to go and look in town tomorrow. Currently I am in my flat Birkenstocks from last year.

For the summer I am looking for, and prefer wedge platformy sandals because they give height but are also really comfy for trekking about with a pushchair.
TS have some ATM in fabric in a couple of styles; there are red, black and yellow on the website, but I've also seen the black ones in bright green in the shop.
I'm looking for something similar to these:
http://www2.monsoon.co.uk/er04/catalog/htdocs/products/photos/748510b.jpg (http://www2.monsoon.co.uk/er04/catalog/detail9233_1.htm)
but without the hessian effect, so let me know if you see any please!
I am only 5'2 so I need all the lift I can get, so these might not be for you. I am hating wearing flats at the moment - my feet are so swollen and I'm sure they look worse in ballet shoes and flipflops, but I'm not buying anything else til I've popped and hopefully my feet shrink a bit. I tried some kitten heel sandals on in the TS sale and I was wobbling all over the place:lol:
Happy shoe hunting,

Yeah I guess wedges are the way to go..
Joanna, how weird, I've been looking for neutrual coloured shoes for weeks, I want some beige/tan/kinda coloured ones to go with all my navy/white/cream stuff- but can't find any anywhere- hence this post.
Thanks sparkliness I'll check the TS ones now.
Those ones you've posted are too chunky under the toes for me, I prefer a wedge heel but flat under the toes IYSWIM, but then I'm 5"7.

Yeah I know they aren't everyone's :mug: , but I like them because they are actually fairly flat, whereas I struggle with most normal wedges because I can't do high heels for every day :happyno:
Hope you find some you like

Joanna I like the second next pair and the first KG pair.
Will look at the website now..
Being a mum and all- would you say it would be stoopid to get delicate ones- like those Faith ones (first pair)?
I mean walking in the park with shoes like that is hardly practical- but then I often met other mums for coffee/chats/coffee so would like to look nice there.
or would it be wiser to get some sturdy ones like the next pair (second pair?)
I'd hate to buy shoes and then find I don't wear them as I'm always pushing a pram:puzzled:
Have you tried New Look? they have lots of shoes that are cheap at the monet I have a black pair of plain sling backs they also do them in Red plus they have similar ones but with a tiny heel and cut away at the side so they look quite sexy/pretty. I alsways find shoes a real problem I am just slightly taller than OH so I can't wear heels and my feet are a 6 - 7 so wdges make me look like a man in drag!

I have managed in all manner of stupid shoes so far  I think the delicate ones would be fine say if you were going into town or to someones house etc but like you say probably not for going to the park!

Yeah tried New Look, and whilst I normally always buy loads of shoes there, they were mainly work shoes like I mentioned ie: pointy, heels, black etc.
Whereas now I want something more casual and I don't think new Look has that many casual shoes, most of them are Patent, polkadotted or glittery!
I know the shoes you mean, I have them in red ;)

Ohh you've just reminded me, I have credit with La Redoute, might as well look there. Like the first ones and the second M&S ones.
The rest are probably too BIG for me as in too chunky.
Ohh thanks Biba :)

Miss SC - M&S had some lovely wedges in store - lots of colours, a decent but still dainty heel and were pretty comfortable too.
