View Full Version : Hollyoaks Storyline
I've just watched tonight's Hollyoaks and the E4 episode (shown on channel 4 tommorrow) and all I can say is - I feel sick. I don't know if it's just touched a raw nerve with me but that was just horrible.

I didnt see tonights, what happened? Read about Mandy's baby - is that the storyline you mean?
I also found the storyline really difficult to watch (I'm used to hollyoaks being a bit silly and naff, even when they did that serial killer and rape storyline, and that's its appeal to me). This one is just horrid though and I might just give hollyoaks a miss till this storyline has been forgotten a bit

what is the storyline about
POSSIBLE SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN E4 TONIGHT:
Mandy and Tony have a night out, leaving Grace with Nancy and Hannah. When they return, Mandy checks on Grace and she's not breathing and when an ambulance is called the paramedics can't revive her.

Sorry - yes that's the storyline.
I'm all for soaps dealing with emotive and difficult subjects if it educates/assists someone but only if it's done in a sensitive way. Last nights episode, however, in my opinion crossed the line, it was just too detailed and graphic, if that makes sense. I also think instead of raising awareness it would have just frightened a lot of people.
It will be interesting to see how the storyline continues over the next week or so.

You would think that they would allow poor Mandy some happiness.......

I started watching this episode but was called away by a demanding newborn so didn't know about this storyline. I think I will avoid Hollyoaks for a while then as just reading this thread has really upset me. :-(

I watched it and i so wasn't expecting it to happen. I usually read up on Hollyoaks in advance to see whats going on but i haven't been watching it properly since we came back from hols in April.
I was in tears last night watching the catch up on E4, then watched last nights episode plus Monday's too
Apparantly Mandy is leaving and i think she dies too :-(

Sometimes CH it happens for no apparent reason- ie: they just stop breathing- as far as I've read.
Poor Many & Tony (usually the 2 most annoying characters-but aahh)

Even though I knew the storyline and wasn't planning on watching it I still did and sobbed my heart out too.

I watched this episode as well on E4 and cried and cried, OH was out as well so I spent all evening and night up and down between Dan's room and ours checking he was OK.
I watch Hollyoaks for a bit of light relief - so certainly wasn't expecting this - and will be avoiding it for a while.

Ahh I watched it all again on sunday- and must admit I was checking quite a lot on Theo last night- as he was sleeping So quietly.
Even my O/H was touched by it and it got us talking about it.
I'll be watching now, to see what happens to mandy & Tony:-(
I read about it in the TV mag and thought that after all the stuff about her being born premature and Mandy not bonding that it was taking it a bit far. It's the same in Eastenders, I could see the little Mo being accused of shaking Freddy storyline coming a mile off.

I'm glad I didn't see it too. I'm always checking on Del if she is too still even though she is 9 months and the risk is very low. It would send me into paranoia if I saw that.
