OUr old dog Buster, was PTS in February 2005. He was a lovely old soul, who lived to 16.5 years. We have 2 dogs (Harvey our Beagle was his successor) but I still miss Buster and his funny old ways.
Yesterday I was having a sort out in the kitchen and in a box on top of the cupboard was a carrier bag containing his collar, tag, vaccination card from the vets and a rosette he won at a dog show for being most handsome mongrel.
I think DH must have put it up there. It made me cry

Awww Sally, I know that feeling, we lost one of our dogs last Boxing Day I was cleaning out paperwork and found her pedigree. .
It's horrible losing a pet - I'm still coming to terms with being a one dog family.
 remember the good times! X

Thank you all for your kind words and hugs. I'm OK really, it just took me by surprise and I didn't think the feelings would be so strong after all this time. Just goes to show how much of an impact pets have on us I suppose.
