View Full Version : Putting things over their face!

Everytime I turn my back Isabel has covered her face in whatever she can grab...her blankie, a muslin cloth, a jumper, her tshirt, a bib...literally whatever she can lay her hands on but mainly muslins!
She seems to thorougly enjoy it and wiggles her legs around and makes little gasps - when I pull it back she is giggling underneath it. Strange little girl.
The nursery nurse and HV said not to worry about the muslin cloth on her face as it is light cotton and she is most likely just exploring her senses etc.
Does anyone elses little one ever do this?

My LO is always covering her face with her sheet and sometimes falls asleep with it on her!

Yes, Maisie can often found behind a muslin. She holds her toy in one hand and the muslin in another and covers herself and her toy up. She seems to like it.

Thomas does this too and if I've turned my back and hear a very high pitched squeeky giggle I know he's covered his face with his muslin again :loco:

Jess is always doing this with her bib, usually when it's covered in food:rolleyes: We've turned it into a game of peek-a-boo (with a clean bib, I might add!)

I think it's a bit of a phase. I vaguely remember Helena doing this, and look forward to Lexie doing it too (at the moment, if she gets anything accidentally over her face she just complains for a bit, then decides it must be bedtime and goes to sleep.)

Evie didn;t but my cousin who is 3 month younger than Evie always did that and now has a little blankie to go to sleep with. Funny how they get their own little ways, Evie's was cuddlyu giraffe's which she still favours

You spend all this money on play gyms, activity arches and toys and the thing that gets the best result...a muslin over the face
Yes, Grace did it and still does.
Also, to get her to self-settle we used to tuck a cellular blanked (or anything with lots of holes in) round her face. She used to go from screaming blue murder to sleep in an instant

Dylan did it loads when he was little and even now peeks from behind the curtains in the sittng room (sort of floaty see through ones) and giggles like a mad thing.
One thing he used to do when we were out was to pull his hat over his face to sleep and I'd forever have little old ladies (all well meaning) telling me my poor poppet had his hat over his eyes and couldn't see - but if I tried to take it off he would moan.
He still uses his bear to stroke his chin or around his face.
She wants to play peepo with you Joanna - how cute
