I would appreciate any advice available on the situation with my SIL, I'll try to keep it brief.

She has been bleeding very heavly down below for over 2 months now, on the Wednesday between xmas and new year I finally managed to persuade her to go to the doctor, he took some swabs and was put on a course of penicilin for a week, which didn't help at all so back to the doctors she went. He decided this time to send away a pregnancy test, she was told to phone in a week to get the results. (All this time she is still bleeding quite badly). She phoned the doctor yesterday 3 times to get the results, during the first 2 phone calls she was told they has misplaced her file and only on the 3rd phone call was she told the results were not back and to phone again tomorrow (today).

Anyway, she has done a couple of pregnancy tests at home and they have shown a possitive result, which she is delighted about. I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to get her to phone NHS24 about the bleeding, but she said as long as she is getting a positive test result everything is fine.

Maybe its just me but I would have phoned NHS 24 as soon as any bleeding started if I was pregnant.

I really hope I am maybe over reacting and keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be fine, but I can't help but be worried sick.

So much for me trying to keep this post brief, well done if you have finished reading this and egnored the spelling and grammer errors.

She really needs to call it can't be good for her to be bleeding that heavily!

And the pregnancy hormone would still show in her body for a few days even after losing the baby!

Hope things turn out ok!

If she's had a positive test result then she should really go to the EPAU and get an internal scan to check that everything's developing as it should.
I think that the reason she's not getting anything done is because she's in denial.....she's frightened that it means something drastic is wrong and is under the misguided impression that ignoring the fact will make it go away when in reality she could be in serious danger of losing her life if it's an ectopic or something.
I also damned shocked that it's taken this long for the gp's to get the results of a simple pregnancy test.....has he never heard of pissing on a stick before!!!!!
