I went to see someone yesterday about Brina's allergies. He is a bit, errr, alternative to say the least. He told me children shouldn't have grain until they have enough teeth to chew them, as this is when their system is mature enough to process grains. This I will interpret with a very open mind as children do teeth at different rates, but I think we're looking for the average here.

Now this may sound bizarre, but her eczema is not doing so well so I would like to give it a try. I have a feeling her eczema is from her diet, not from bathing.

So, I was informed she already is allergic to wheat, soy, dairy, and am having enough trouble adjusting to that alone. Now I need to remove corn, rice, and almost any other staple (grain) I can think of. Help?!! The only things I can think of to substitue for her cheerios, pasta, etc are potatoes and legumes. Can someone give me ideas, please? She's not a huge meat eater, so a diet of fruits and vegetables seems like it will leave her hungry. I know I would be starving.

Almost forgot, she is allergic to egg as well.

Not totally sure what legumes are (beans?) but could she eat lentils? Or couscous, although I think that might be some sort of grain. Sweet potatoes, yams, planatins? Or are these just vegetables, sorry not much help. Can she eat meat to keep up her protein intake?

Hope you get some better advice!

Actually, just re-read your post - pasta and cheerios are quite heavily processed, would it be worth trying porridge, wholewheat bread, rye bread products for a while?

Have you gone down the homeopathic route at all? That is the only thing that we found helped to control Kyle's excema - and believe me we tried everything! There is a homeopathic GP at our practice and we got it all done on the NHS.

Yes, flipflop I meant beans!
Noo noo, I haven't tried much on her skin. I've found it's best to use a vegetable-glycerin soap and try to keep soap off the eczema spots. I'm also using a lanolin/petroleum cream at the mo. Did your homepath recommend certain treatments for Kyle's skin, or vitamins, etc?

Its oral homeopathic treatments rather than topical we're using. They come in granular form.
