Nursery have just called. She's got a temp of 39.9. DH has gone to collect her. Can't believe she's ill AGAIN:no: . She's only been there since 13th Sept and this is the 5th illness she's had.
They've given her nurofen and stripped her down, but is there anything else we can do??
Poor Jess :-(
You're doing all the right things, but just check her over yourself too. Oh and my doc told me that if a baby has a v high temp but freezing hands and feet, to take them straight in because is a sign of the body fighting a infection internally. Just something I always check for now.
Hope she picks up AA :higgies:

I called NHS direct the other week when Lola got to 39.9 and it wasnt coming down. They said to take her down to the emergency doctor.
I would strip her, give her 10 mins and see if it comes down. Also I found out on here they can have ibuprofen & paracetomol so maybe try both
Bless her, its awful when they are poorly.

Dr said to me when Jack was ill to give them a very cool bath, it drops their temp quickly, he once saw a small child having a convulsion because of a high temp and the first thing the nurse did was dunk it in some cool water which stopped it almost instantly!

Second the cool bath. Also give her some paracetamol. If it's still not coming down, give your GP/NHS Direct a call

Hope your little one is better soon.
Sounds like your doin the right thing, one thing I was told was to pat them down with a cold cloth and the nurofen and paracetamol should be given every 4 hours first one then 4 hours later the other so not to overdose
I thnk you are NOT supposed to do the cold bath thing any more - just lukewarm cloth - how worrying for you - I probably would get medical advice if doesn't fall.
Take care

Yes-NO COLD BATH!!!!!! It simply makes the body heat up MORE to try and compensate for heat loss. Doctors if the Nurofen/Calpol doesn't work!
Ohh glad I know no cold bath, it wasn't cold when we gave him a bath just cooler than normal just about body temp

Not a cold bath but a cool bath is fine.

Thanks everyone.
Her temp has come down now, she's charging around coughing like a smoker!!! She is still warm but the thermometer says normal.
Temperatures frighten me so much, my brother had a febrile convulsion when he was 2 and it scared the life out of me.

Well she's just thrown up all over me. Got so hysterical taking her medicine that she coughed and, well, you know the rest.
Think we'll be going to the Drs tomorrow....

Had a rough night with her coughing but she doesn't seem too bad in herself IYSWIM. Fingers crossed we have a better night, I could sleep for Britain!
