I am going totally doolally here - to the point that I woke up at 4.30am with Monty and haven't been able to sleep since :zombie: it's pissing me off so much

Can anyone think of a reason why I can't get onto certain websites that AREN'T experiencing general problems, it's just me :puzzled:

I have a brand new super duper computer and I can get on to pretty much every other website I can think of, to browse, order things and buy things.

But I CANNOT get onto

Sainsburys
Tesco or
Ocado

JUST those three - I have not found one single other website that I can't access :hissyfit:

and I NEED TO DO MY FECKING SHOPPING. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH

I KNOW that there is nothing wrong with these sites and as far as I know there is nothing wrong with my brand new computer with super fast and tastic broadband stuff.

But I'm an utter technical bimbo so is there something really obvious that I'm missing?? :scratchchin:

Thank you so much from a sleep deprived and about to turn to drink at 6.45am katkinn

Hmm. Have you checked your interet security settings? Sometimes they can be set high preventing you from viewing certain sites. It's sometimes defaulted this way in factory settings.

How annoying for you Kat
No idea myself but DH says he needs to know what actually happens before he can work out what's wrong? Does it throw and error code or do you get "site unavailable" or does it just wait forever and nothing happens?
Apparently it's probably some "proxy server setting"

The first thing that came to me was could it be a Java problem, some sites rely on you having certain software installed on yr pc to access them. You can verify here; www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

What is yr machine throwing up to show you that these sites are unavailable to you?

Very true. Assuming you have Windows this has a Security Suite inbuilt that can be very irritating if you have an external anti virus as well. If you do have Norton or similar i would just go into Control Panel and disable the inbuilt security entirely, but that's just me

Thanks for replying girls.

On all three sites it comes up with Cannot Find Server "page unavailable"

The random thing though is that at the weekend I could get onto all of them :scratchchin:

Would that make a difference? I haven't done anything to the computer since????

There is literally NO other site that I cannot access bar

www.tesco.com (http://www.tesco.com)
www.sainsburystoyou.co.uk (http://www.sainsburystoyou.co.uk) ( can get onto the main Sainsburys site and click on Grocery Shopping and get the cannot find server message - but I can onto the wine ordering thing - if it weren't for Hettie I'd sod food and we could survive on wine :teehee: )
www.ocado.com (http://www.ocado.com)

Well I've done that and it STILL Doesn't work :hissyfit:

And I've just spoken to a lovely guy at Ocado who talked me through all of the above as well and he said that he had no idea what the problem was and that I should maybe call BT Broadband :puzzled:

Once you do it you need to restart your machine.
