He has bought a new monitor for it, got a new this that and other for it and has a brand new Motherboard in it too. It is a Isus one and is meant to be the bees knees. He switches it on and the pc seems to recognise it and all is okay then it freezes.
He has spent the last two day trying different things out and getting all the lastest updates etc on it but he is extremely annoyed as it is not doing bu99er all.
Grasping at straws here but any one with advice?

If it is not the memory cards, it could be the holder which holds the memory cards, as mine wasn't working and I had to change the whole motherboard.

Right he has done the memory card thing. He gets an unexpected error occured at line 1773 in D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c.
He has got this even though he has done everything including bios.

My OH (computer geek type) says: if he's changed the motherboard, Windows will require an overinstall before it will recognise the new motherboard and everything else. Boot PC with Windows CD in the drive, and select the install Windows option, not the repair option. Choose the existing Windows partition for the install, and hopefully this should work without losing any data!
PM me if you would like more help and I'll supply his number, he'd be happy to talk your OH through it if he wants!! He's very accommodating like that

That error message suggests faulty memory. Try with one stick at a time- also you could try putting them in different slots

Just to say he took out the memory and just left one card in there? It seems a bit more responsive today. He still need to check a few things he says but it seems better that it was.
Thanks everyone with the help.
