do you think they only go to them when they are missing something from their diets or because they could be pigs??

I brought mine the lickit paddock lick which gives them extra stuff, when they first had them mellie went through hers in about a week (this is a pony that will eat a normal lickit over night!) and crez a little bit
later. They was kept in every other day.

This time crez seem to picking at hers more than mels, they are out every day and in at night at the mo.

so what do you think, im not sure if they are pigs or in need of them for what they are getting?

I thought they were more boredom relievers than really packed full of nutrients... the only one mine will eat is the mollasses one which even smells sweet. They have a salt lick and a mineral lick for day to day stuff.

Oh well they all sound lovely and full of goodness - but I do think you've got some "greedy pig" problems going on there! ;-) Because they don't eat a normal mineral lick in a week! They're obviously making these new ones too tasty!

Edit: I tend to feed fresh garlic in the summer to help keep flies away and now I'm adding an eggcup full of vegetable oil to ginger's dinner to keep her condition up with fizz down!

It might be a 'mare' thing because our mare hogs the licks we put in the field and the others aren't that interested...

Maybe licks are to mares what chocolate is to us:teehee:

That means the hairy one must bat for the other side then! He always wolfs them down so I've stopped putting them out in case it upsets his stomach. I'm so confused about all these flipping supplements, I just give him apple cider vinegar and glucosamine for his stiffness and leave it at that.

i only get them for them every now and then like a treat but they usually have apples, carrots and parsnips everyday along with garlic.

I know mels is a pig as she would spend her whole life in her stable as long as she had a haynet and she will do anything for food!
