My mother rang the other night and DD answered. I didn't fancy another awkward, stilted conversation, so I waved my hands around and shook my head so that DD would tell my mother I'd gone out.
The conversation went:
DD - "No Grandma, Mummy's gone to a cookery demonstration at school, she went out ages ago"
Mother - "Is Daddy there?"
DD - "Mum, where's Dad?"

The moral of the story is - don't ever ask kids to lie for you!
