View Full Version : My wee baby sister could be in labour!!!!!!

She's 40+3 today and is booked in for a sweep on Tuesday. She phoned me this morning to tell me she'd had a show then she called at lunchtime to ask what contractions felt like and she's just called to say she thinks this might be it!!!!!!:ellie: :ellie: :ellie:
I cannot contain my excitement. She's had a feck awful pregnancy (they suspected she was mc'ing at 8 weeks but was found to be ok and there seem to have been problems at every turn). She seems quite calm atm (unlike my mother and my sister's OH who have both gone into meltdown!!)
I could be an auntie any day now!!!:ellie: :ellie: :ellie: Sending her lots and lots of pain free labour vibes her way

does she know what she is having??
No - she's having a shy baby whatever it is as it's not been keen to show its bits and bobs when she's been scanned!!! I cannot WAIT to be an auntie!!!! DH is excited too as he's never been an uncle before (I have 3 step-nieces so have sort of done it before)

Just spoken to her and she's doing ok. My folks though are feeling the strain and rowing with each other!! She says the pains are 'not very nice' and that if I was any sort of big sister I'd be doing it for her!! Her contractions are every 10 mins and around 1 min long so it could be a while yet.

Oh my god I'm soooooo  I've just had a call from Mum to say that sis was ok BUT ON HER OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently the hospital was busy and they say my sis is in 'sluggish' labour so they've given her a shot of pethadine and sent my Mum and my sis's OH home!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister's partner isn't even allowed to stay with her because her labour is so slow - apparently it's hospital policy!!! So she's a scared first time mum and she can't even have the father of her baby with her:angry:
I hope the wee lamb is ok - last time she was admitted a few weeks ago she was in a really bad way:-( Mum, Dad and sis's OH are on their way back to hospital now to see what's happening

Unfortunately he couldn't put his foot down if he tried and my folks won't want to pee the medical people off. I'm the gobby one in the family so if I was there I would CERTAINLY be saying something. But it's a 5 hour drive away.:-( and I have to be at college at 10am.

i cant believe it! When i went into labour my oh was about to go home but they said since i was in labour (it had only just started!!) he could stay and we was put in a room of our own.
Thats very bad, mind you my oh would have refused to go but thats just how he is!
hope your sis is ok!

What shabby treatment from the hospital, don't they realise how frightening it must be for her on her own. Just because they do it day in day out doesn't mean their patients do!

:hissyfit: on your sisters behalf Lois! That really sucks.
Could her oh not just go back and stay? Surely they wouldn't forcibly remove him from the premises or anything?
I hope your sister is ok :flowers: and that your niece/nephew gets here soon.

Do you know I've actually started crying reading that?
The exact same thing happened to me and I spent 12 hours pacing the antenatal ward overnight on my own.
I was never so scared or so lonely and they wouldn't let me call my DH or my mum.
I actually get really, really panicky when I think about it.
Your poor sister- it was the worst part of my birth experience and my heart goes out to her.

She was on her own from 1am til 9am but now her OH is with her and Mum and Dad are waiting at the hospital too. It's a very very slow labour unfortunately - she's still only 5cm and she's been in labour just short of 24 hours!!!
