Sorry to pick your brains again ladies (Goldilocks, I can't get into the childminders forum link you sent me:puzzled: )

I had the first of my ICP course sessions yesterday. Went quite well, learned some things I didn't know, though it was all about safety and risk so things I already knew in the main.

ANYWAY next week's session is about activities that we can do with the children and our homework was to bring in something that cost under £1 that we can use to do an activity/activities with the children so we can share ideas. SO I went to sainsburys today and bought 3 plain wooden spoons (26p each) and I've made 2 into puppets with materials I had around the home and I thought I'd leave the 3rd one plain and say we could either use it for baking or, as my 2.5 year old does, use it to bang pots and pans to make music.

Is this inventive enough?? Would you do any of these activities with your mindees??? I'm worried that I'm perhaps not creative/imaginative enough to work with children as I don't have Paige home all that much to get in the practice.

I'd appreciate your honesty - if you think it's naff, please say so!!

Sounds perfect Lois. Using things around the house is always a winner :thumb: As for not being creative, there's loads of websites out there that I use for ideas. I'll send you some links when I get a minute.

Not sure why the link didnt work :puzzled: Here it is again

Hiya Lois - nothing to add but I am also in the process of becoming a childminer and did the first session of my course yesterday based on risk assesment etc.

My homeowrk though was to write my evacuation procedure so it's not the same course - I was thinking "who were you............" when I read your post
:scratchchin:

Good luck hun, I am completely overwhelmed by all the paperwork involved atm and just need to get my ass in gear and write my policies etc. Also need to do soooooo much to my house to get it Ofsted ready :brainache: :brainache:

Anyway, just wanted to say hi

xx

Hey Helski!! Yes the emergency plan is quite daunting. I was thinking of calling the fire brigade and asking their liaison officer to come and look at the house and make suggestions.

I have Ofsted coming on Tuesday so I'll let you know how it goes!

Ooooh yes, good plan - any excuse to get a fireman round :boobies:

Yes, would love to know how you get on. One of the women on the course had been pulled up on her kettle lead (now tucked down the back of the unit) - and had problems proving that things were safety glass so has had to put sticky back plastic type stuff on her table. he said the Ofsted lady was really lovely though.

I'm not around now until Wednesday evening so please don't think I'm ignoring you if you post before that, but I'll be coming straight back here to check how you got on.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hiya,

I am think you may have posted about your Ofsted inspection elsewhere - so will go off and have a lookie but was just wondering how it went .

Hope you passed with flying colours!!
