I have just had a mw appointment and she said that she thinks this baby is going to be about 6-6 1/2lbs. Not really worried or anything but she wants to make sure I see a specific mw next week for my next visit.

She said it was because she likes you to see all the mw's at the last weeks (there are 5) but I only saw that one last week and she is the most experienced so it makes me wonder a little.

Apart from that baby has popped up again out of my pelvis but apparently this doesn't mean anything with the 2nd.

Still hoping I will go early tho as I am getting tired of the belly ache and Dylan trying to sit on top of it

I am sure everything will be fine, thats not too small. My friends baby born in February was 5lb and is a right little belter now!

I heard that with 2nd babies the head doesnt always engage until labour, and therefore yes the head can go in and out of the pelvis.

Sure its nothing to worry about, i've too heard that 2nd time round baby often doesn't engage until you get into the full swings of labour, i think there older brother/sister must leave them instructions in there so they get out quicker

As for the size, after being told to expect a baby weighing at least 8lb it was such a shock to be shown Lucy weighing just 6lb 3oz, she was incy but perfectly formed. Never really had any problems other than DH was a little scared of handling her, but i think he'd have been the same had she weighed 8lb. Newborn clohtes fitted her best and for a good 8 wks too and her 0-3 stuff lasted her until she was 5 months.

Don't worry Andie - like Mrs D says their clothes fit them for yonks :)

I've had 3 little ones (5lb 9oz, 7lb and 6lb 1oz) and the bigger two are tall, strong active kids now and J is catching up fast, as she's putting weight on nicely now.

I am not really worried as they had said DS was on the small side as well but in the end he wasn't I think it was more her face today that concerned me a little more than anything. But that might have been as she was working with the trainee who is very nervous and couldn't even work the cuff for the blood pressure properly.

When she was examining my bump I had to tell her to press harder :laff: and then had to remind her to listen to the heartbeat. She then found that and went there you go..... I said yeah but that is mine :laff: poor girl was mortified but I thought it better to tell her.

I think it just goes to show that you don't need to be huge the second time round or have a bigger baby.

If this one is smaller then the newborn clothes with be used for ages as Dylan was in them for ages as well.

I had a right dippy midwife this week too who didn't seem to know what on earth she was doing :loco:

Hope everything is okay for you Andie at your next appt - they do have a knack of putting the fear of god into you sometimes don't they

Oh God, that's going to be me in a few months! Anyway, I;m sure everything is fine, Evie was 5lb 15, and she's just weighed in at 22lb, it's nothing to worry about!

Are they basing this just from measuring from the outside Andie? All through pregnancy I was told I was having a whopper - right up until I was wheeled into theatre the consultant bet me she would be at least 9lbs. Well she was 7lb 9oz!!

I don't see how it is scientifically possible to tell from the outside what size your baby will be - especially for someone like me who is overweight to start with!!:laff:

Hi Andie
Just checking on your daily post ;) making sure you're still here!
They said Em was going to be 7-7.5lb and she was nearly 9lb and that was only about 5 days before she was born they guessed that - I didn't eat THAT many donuts ;)

I am not really sure what they are basing it on. She was having a good grab of the baby thru my tummy when she said it.

She also let me grab the head which was a bit weird but funny. Ach y'know its not going to be that small really I think she might have just been letting me know.

Maybe it will have a really really small head :laff:

We were at the supermarket buying the bisuits and anaseed crunchy topping today so i bought one blue and one pick to give to the visitors when the baby is born and Dylan threw the blue one out of the trolley and a wee woman said to me so he is expecting a sister then? :laff: Made me chuckle as he likes to HELP in the supermarket
