Just did a search and found this response to Kerry
Greetings, individual who is suspected of being a bot.
A quick Google search for the name, "Kerry Jewel," revealed information about a well known scammer operating out of Australia. Furthermore, I have noted identical introduction posts to this one in several other forum sites. If this is you, I believe your stay here will be a most unpleasant one, as this community does not take kindly to being deceived.
May God have mercy on your soul. The users of this forum almost certainly won't.
Personally I quite like the sound of Kerry Jewel; s/he seems to have a lot of interests aside from charity work:

Why?
Not saying you shouldn't have, but what blipped your radar with this post? I am so naive, I just took it at face value. I am intrigued as to why you googled, or whatever you did.
Do you do it with all new posters?
Hope that doesn't come across as being aggressive or anything - I really am interested in what would make someone go :scratchchin: about what, to me, seemed like a fairly innocuous intro post

oh no, I wouldn't do that to everyone who posts for the 1st time! Definitely not.
What blipped my radar? Not sure really, just a feeling I guess. It didn't really ring true for me. The mentions of the charities seemed odd - gratuitous and irrelevant. I'm not saying that charities don't need to be plugged but it just seemed odd. The fact that the charities are abroad also may have pricked my attention - a lot of the spammers seem to be from outside the UK although of course we have Damsels abroad.
I think the full name also may have made me hesitate, there aren't many people who would use their full name like that.
It's hard to explain but the language also made me a bit :yeahright: Declaring a charity to be the greatest in the world was odd to me. Also the 'Glad to be part of the community' sounded weird to me  I know I'm :loco:
None of those things alone would have made me investigate but all of them together rang alarm bells. I guess I've seen a lot of posts like that and just got a feeling.
Honestly, I'm not a conspiracy theorist or paranoid! I can't really explain it though and judging by the text I quoted from someone else, I'm not the only only one to be suspicious. I just read out the original post to DH as neutrally as possible and his first response was 'What are they after' so it's not just me!

For me, it was the bold typeface, the fact that he/she/it had his/her/it's "name" as the post title & the lack of anything about themselves other than the great work they have allegedly done that triggered my radar....

Nah.
Classic dodginess :cool2:
Smelled a bit fishy to me too, that's why I didn't say hi like I usually do to new posters. Why would you name a thread after yourself? why would you start by saying charities you are involved with? :puzzled:

I took it at face value too and possibly as someone who doesn't know forums too well.:scratchchin:
