Well, saw my doctor this morning about my periods (breakthough bleeding, AF lasting up to ten days, cycle shortening etc).
She decided it would be best to do an internal and smear there and then (C was with me so that was fun "What's the doctor doing mammy? What's up there??)
Anyway from first glance I have quite a bad cervical erosion- the smear hurt like feck and I've had to take painkillers and I'm still bleeding now).
Doc is waiting for test results from the swabs she took and then referring me to gynae where she said they would carry out a number of tests (scans and the like) and would prob treat the erosion by "cold burning" it. (My legs crossed at that point).
As the erosion is quite big she did however say they would be likely to do this under GA as a day case.
I feel quite freaked out at the thought TBH and very emotional today.

It's good that you know what it is though, and that they can sort it.
I had to take Clara to a smear appt once. I took T's DS in to distract her but it didn't work. She ended up sitting on my chest bouncing about while the nurse took the smear. Certainly lightened the mood.

Hugs hon, at least you know its that and nothing more sinister. I've had to have that "cold burning" which I can tell you is a lot better than "hot burning" which they tried to do to me in an emergency whilst I was still awake. I would give birth 10 times over rather than EVER go through that again.
Like you, I had a GA, its very quick and you will probably come home same day, just take it easy for a couple of weeks. It will all be fine and you'll feel so much better xxxxxxxx Its normal to feel emotional about it btw.

At least you've got some answers :hug:I've had that done for a cervical erosion too, it was fine. Had it done under GA, home same day and suffered no ill effects. Made everything feel better and had no problems since and it was over 10 years ago now.
Hopefully you'll be all sorted soon!

Thanks all - it's reasuring to know some of you have been through it.
Can I ask - if you had the procedure done under GA - did you need to take time off work? (apart from the day of the procedure obv?).

Hugs AG. I had that done when I younger. I was wide awake with no pain relief!! They didn't offer me any alternative! Anyway I'm guessing mine was much smaller. But it was fine - felt odd and I felt wobbly that night but it was ok you know. I'm glad you can get it sorted. xxx

I took the next day off as well, just as a precaution as you can sometimes feel a bit wobbly after a GA. In reality I probably didn't need to but I think it'd be wise to have a day off afterwards in case you feel unwell.

Lucy was only 9 months old, and I was self employed, so I could manage my own time, which was useful. I felt lousy for a week or two, but I'd had a large bleed too. I imagine if that hadn't happened a couple of days - depends how you are with GA, they will only give you a short one as its a quick op.
Oh AG :higgies: , I can see why you must be scared.
At least you know what it is, and it's treatable :higgies:
