I tried Sam about a month ago but he wasn't interested at all, he weed and pooed his pants but carried on playing.

On Saturday night though, he insisted on taking his clothes off, including his nappy. I told him he wasn't doing it without a potty around and, low and behold, as soon as he saw the potty he sat on it and did a wee :ellie:

So yesterday, I started potty training in earnest but he suddenly decided he hated the potty  At one point, he told me he needed a poo (which is brillient), so I sat him on the potty, he got up screaming and ran away and then pooed on the floor. So later in the day, I asked him if he would rather do wees and poos in the big toilet and his face lit up. So I bought one of those little seats to go over the top, I've been trying him on there today and already we've had two wees in the toilet  Only one accident up to now today too. He seems to love the little seat, he looks really proud when he's sat on it

So we'll see what the next few days bring, hopefully it'll be pretty easy from now on (although I've read a few threads on here so I realise it might not be the doddle I think it's going to be!).

Well done!

We're doing a similar thing after putting DS on the toilet as an experiment - and he produced a poo!

We haven't bothered with the potty, and like you have one of the little seats to go on the big toilet seat and C LOVES it. Since then we've only had 2 poos in his nappy in 2 weeks (one when he was with the nanny and one where I forgot to put him on the loo in the morning).

Best of luck! And remember to get a few piccies of him sitting on the loo for his 21st birthday party :teehee:

Good luck. We're struggling to get anywhere atm here, so taking things very slowly. No advice to offer therefore, but good luck anyway!

Thought I would let you know how we got on today - he did seven wees in the toilet :ellie:  I am so proud

We had about four major accidents (ie big wees) and one poo in his pants (which he didn't tell me about either, but he told me about his weeing accidents). We also had about four beginnings of wees (big dribbles really) which he told me about and I plonked him on the toilet and he finished the wee off.

I think he's done brilliently for day one, I am so proud

PS I didn't realise just how much he weed until today  Hopefully when he gets better bladder control, he'll stop doing lots of little wees and just save it up for big ones.

Good luck.

Olivia goes through phases when she will sit on her special loo seat thing, and then weeks when she only wants the potty. It's an independence thing I think cos she can manage the potty all by herself but even with a step, she needs a little help to climb on to our toilet.

Watch out for the descriptions. We still have to look and examine each poopy, to see what colour and how big it is ("enormous"), or two little ones etc. teehee, this is no time for inhibitions.
