Eek! :higgies: Does your council have an emergency number? I wonder if they could send someone out to help, particularly if it's a through road?

:higgies:

Call the Highways Agency, or the non-emergency police number.

Here's the Highways Agency number: 0300 123 5000

Oh Noo Noo! I think if it were me, I'd probably call the fire brigade. They should have the equipment to deal with it. I would imagine ther is a lot of this happening right now, must be very frightening :higgies:.

The other advantage of this plan is you might get some hunky fireman sitting in your kitchen .

Our local engine has just gone out very slowly so I think someone round here must have a similar situation. I'm about to go out and figure out what's rumbling around the side of the house.

I can't seriously call the fire brigade.

Cars can still get past on the other side of the road.

I'm just a bit shook up by it.

So what are you planning on doing? Leaving it there?

Call the Highways Agency, and they can log it.

I think it is OK to call and just ask for advice (not 999 obviously!) You're not expected to automatically know what to do :happyno: :higgies:

Have you got anything Hi-viz you could tie to it (if it'd stay) so that you've done your best to warn road users?

Although i've driven round several objects tonight so it shouldn't come as a surprise to drivers to see a tree down.

Actually hang on, I've had a closer look and the Highways Agency is for motorways and major A roads.

I think you should call the council at least. Or maybe call the fire station and they can advise?

noo noo if I recall, do you live on a cul de sac? (sorry, stalker alert, I remember pics from somehwre )

In which case, if cars can still get by it and it's not in anyone's way and not likely to move , I'd probably leave it till the morning.

Seeing as clearly the weather is horrendous and there will be lots of perhaps more life threatening things for them to dealing with (not to belittle what's happened but if the tree is safe iyswim )

What about the police non-emergency line?#

Or the council have a roads flooding emergency line that might be appropriate? Tel: 01569 768475

Thats what I'm going to have to do. Have tried phoning the non emergency police line but its just referring you to a recorded message and telling you to call 999 if its an emergency which clearly it isn't. Why does these things always happen when DH isn't around?!

Well, at least if the tree is down, and cars can still get past, it's not going to go anywhere else tonight (like on top of a house or a person).

Don't even think of trying to shift it yourself. You won't be able to. Trees are enormously heavy. Something along the lines of a tractor to drag it or a loader to lift it will be required.

Why can't you call the fire brigade Noo Noo? :scratchchin:, I don't get it :puzzled:.

But if it is safe, then yes, leave it til morning. Have something sweet my love, sort your shock out.

Is it your tree? if so maybe your home insurance company would be the people to call? I think if it was one of our trees and the council or whoever sorted it out, we would be billed for the work.

Take care

Your council should have an emergency number to contact. Dh is a Tree surgeon and is on call(for council) when weather is bad in case of fallen trees on roads etc.
