I really don't know what usually goes into these, but I decided to make some up for the (2-5 year old) children coming to Elena's party on Saturday.

Does this sound OK?
A small box with a fairytale castle picture
a mini windmill
A Mr Men book - Mr Tickle and the Dragon
A small box of Milkybar covered raisins
A chocolate lollie
A bouncy ball
A small pack of bubbles
A piece of birthday cake

Does that sound OTT (in which case I could use some of the bits for party games) or mean?

What do you think?

I would say you only need upto 5 things in going home bags so you could cull it a bit. Perhaps use some of the things as prizes for party games?

Sounds a wee bit OTT - I'd probably take a few things out to use as prizes or for pass the parcel or for the layers in between.

I am doing Ellis party bags on Sunday, but they have just got some cheapy things, I wasplanning to put about 3 items in each bag, some sweets and a piece of cake.

Maybe give the Mr Men books as prizes.

What games are you going to do out of interest? I was just going to do pass the parcel.

I think that sounds like a fab party box but I'm no expert as I've never made them up.

Last month a little girl at Lorna's nursery had a birthday and her mum brought in birthday bags for her friends. Lorna got a helium baloon with the girls name on it, milky bar, book, an apple and a toy.

Rachie,

The windmills are sooo cute & not expensive. They're like the ones you get for the garden but smaller. They came from ASDA for £1 each. The balls were from a pack of 8 for £1. The raisins were from Elena's stash already, the chocolate lollies were being sold off cheap as they were Easter stock  & the bubbles were 4 for £1.20 (or something like that). The Mr Men books were the main indulgence, but they were so cool!
The castle party boxes were 6 for £1.20 on ebay :D

OK. The books are coming out to be pass the parcel prises (& keep some back for Elena as there are 3 sorts)as will the lollies as they're flat and the raisins will be put on the food table. If it looks sparce in goes an uninflated balloon & maybe some stickers (as we have loads of them). That should be about right.

I'm not sure about party games ??? We do have a pin the flag on the castle picture game & pass the parcel. I'm hoping for nice weather so that they can all play in the garden - sand pit/slide/swing/bouncy castle etc. So much easier :). Otherwise it's quite difficult to know what to do with 1x2yr old, 1x2.5 yr old, 2x3yr olds + 2x5yr olds.

I hope your party goes well Rachie.
