Do you all have a turkey? Or something different?
Mr P and I had a goose last year and I hope we never go back to turkey. It was absolutely delicious and as it was between 2 of us we had lots left over for sandwiches.
It did cost £60 though, so it wasn't a cheap option. It was worth every penny though, the nicest meat I have ever eaten.

We stayed away from turkey too and did a huge rib of beef on the bone. It was divine as it was from a local butcher and had been matured for ages. It actually cost less than a good quality turkey would have been anyway.

We had chicken last year, and duck the year before. Not a big turkey fan.

We have chicken as neither of us are fans of turkey, I find it too dry. This year we might have beef though as I am not that keen on chicken these days!

Turkey is fine if you get a really nice one - make sure you cook it resting breast-down for some of the cooking time, and then when you get it out of the oven at the end, turn it over so that the breast is facing down again. Leave it to rest like that for 10-15 mins so that the meat rests, and the juices will run back into the meat rather than all over your chopping board/roasting tin/floor/serving plate.

A couple of years ago we have a Norfolk black turkey from Peeles at Rookery farm and it was the best turkey I've had although I'm still not a die-hard fan. Last year we had a lovely organic leg of pork from a local butcher and it was great. This year, if we are on our own ( :fingerscrossed: ) then I think we will have a duck.

That's the sort of reception they get in my family too :teehee: In defense not from ME personally  but from the rest of the irish clan. They just don't quite understand the concept of not eating meat!!!!
Anyway, when it comes to Christmas I am a total and utter M&S whore. Ironically it is the one meal of the entire year that I literally let Mr M&S cook for me.
The last couple of years we've had a stuffed basted turkey crown (all premade :teehee:) and it's been FABULOUS. None left over, v moist, not remotely expensive (imho) and quick to cook.
I do do my own roasties (whoopee doo!!) but everything else - literally everything else, is done by the great Mr Marks himself :teehee:
I REFUSE to waste valuable time pre Christmas and on Christmas Day cooking, when I could be drinking :teehee:
