I am filling in an application form and am stumped by one of the questions. The role is the same as my present role for a different employer, so I am confident that I can do the role.

There is one question that is baffling me. It asks me to "give details of [my] knowledge of the statutory framework and case law" relating to my area of work. This is essentially a dissertation question and could only be answered fully in about 30000 words :faint: I take it they don't want that? (Tbh, if they do I haven't got time to answer the question  )

How would you answer? Is it OK to just put something general about being in the role, being familiar with the framework/caselaw etc due to using it on a daily basis?

:help:

i would maybe outline your level of understanding - studied at x level, worked with in a practical arena for x years, and maybe give a brief example of where you applied it at work, or how it shapes your approach to your job? the last bit possibly in bullet points?

would something like that work?

I think you need to give a brief outline and say you look forward to having the opportunity to discuss this in more detail with them.

good luck!

eta: alternatively, give the HR dept a call, or the person who the job is reporting to, and just ask them what they are looking for

Thanks Bisy :flowers: It's really frustrating because I literally couldn't do my job if I didn't know it (I'm a lawyer  ). I'll see if I can do something like that....

I hate these stupid forms. I wouldn't mind but the woman who the forms are going to knows me in a work capacity and has done for 7 years. I feel like writing "hello, it's me!! have been doing this job 10 years and haven't been struck off yet!" That's probably a sign that I should step away and get a cup of tea.

You never said you were going for another job!

I would just do as Bisy says and do a brief outline relating it back to work situations if poss.

Good luck honey xxx

Thanks HK :flowers: Same job, but in my town so no motorway! I'm still not sure, I love my job and love my team so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get this one but we'll see. I've finished the form now and submitted it so :fingerscrossed:
