View Full Version : Trofast storage question
I have accidentally bought 2 different types of tall white Trofast, when I meant to get two of the same.
I haven't opened the boxes yet, and I'm not sure which style is the one I want to keep!
These are what they look like:

and

They are both the same price (hence the confusion!) and I think I probably want to get two the same so they are the same height.
The second one seems to have a 'strengthening' bar across the middle, has anyone got these, is it neccesary?
Confused!

The one with the bar across the middle is well over head height, the other is waist height. It's difficult to gauge the 1st pic but the 2nd is definitely very tall. Which height did you want?

Actually it's not waist height but they are different heights - look at the product info on the website
The first is 179cm and the 2nd is 208cm tall and also heavier of course, so head height and top of the door height. We have the 2nd one and it's behind the door and is just hidden

We have the 1st pic ones (3 of them) and they are about level with my chin and I'm 5'3'' if that helps at all, I love them, very sturdy. We only went for the shorter ones as they fit in my car, the others were too long to get the boxes in.
Thanks ladies ... yep I understand the 2nd one is taller, but they both take more or less the same number of boxes, that's really why I was confused as to which one would be preferable.
I've had a friend round today who said she has the second one and it can become unstabale if the lower boxes are taken out/empty and there are heavy items up top.
So that and your view, squidgell, means I'm going to go for the first lot. Thanks for your input :flowers:

Sorry Samba, i totally misunderstood the question!
We have the taller one and i actually find it a bit of a pain to get things out of the top tray and I've never wanted to put anything with any weight up there. If there are things that I wanted to store that were light and infrequently used then it's fine but otherwise I'd go for the lower one.
 I did wonder! Thanks, def going to unpack the short one :thumb:

 I thought you meant the boxes, name, description and price were the same so what was the difference

Bit late to this but last time we were in Ikea I noticed they've started doing 2 different types of Trofast units, the original ones with grooves for the boxes to slide into (like the 2nd picture) and a newer one with plastic runners tacked on to the wood (like the 1st one).
The newer ones looked a bit less hard-wearing and not as nice IMO, the wood/laminate stuff looked a bit cheapo and not as solid, no offence to anyone who's got them :happyno:

Ours are the newer ones with the plastic runners and we were really impressed with the quality of the units themselves, for the price anyway! I haven't yet noticed and problems with the runners :happyno:
