Husband has sent a huge list of potential birthday presents he wants, including a Kinect Sensor thing for his Xbox. I've been thinking of buying some kind of game thing for the kids (nearly 6 and 4) - was thinking a wii or something. Does anyone have the Kinect and if so, does it have good stuff for the kids? Would be very convenient to kill two birds with one stone, if you see what I mean!

Dont know why. Prob because Alfie has the xbox up in his room but it is coming downstairs again as OH bought me a excerise game for it & i need the kinnect to use it

I think the Wii is prob better in terms of games etc

My Boys (4 & 7) had a go on it at my best friends house. The 7 year old could use it after a bit of getting used to, but the 4 year old found it very difficult to use. We have a Wii and I think it much easier for kids to use.

We had a Kinect, and sold it  We still have the Wii. Does that help?

I'd think the Wii is great for kids. Plus the never ending Wii puns; Can I play Wii? - no I've told you before no wee battles, Mum he's playing with his Wii again, Can my friends play Wii. That sort of thing, but maybe that's just us.

We have a Kinect. DH wanted one

My 6 year old loves it- there's a challenge one of some sort, and she loves Kinectimals or whatever it's called. The 3 year old doesn't really "get" it yet- she doesn't get that it's a representation of her on the screen, iyswim.

However it's not played very much, we just don't have time  DH occasionally tries to justify himself by saying it's better for them to be jumping up and down on the kinect than sitting watching TV, but tbh ours have such an active lifestyle I think they need an hours downtime and a DVD is more benefical than more leaping about. I'm the same, by the time I've been to work, sorted the kids/dinner etc, last thing I want is to fire up the xbox in my only hours sit down.

I think if your kids play computer games or watch a lot of telly then a kinect could add a bit of physical activity and be a good thing

We have one of these, I have the dance game absolutely love it I can spend hours on it and I just don't do exercise . We have a Wii too but I always struggled with the controls

It is alot of fun but DD is 2 is too young, DS (4) likes playing on the kinnectimals (sp?) game with the tigers.

I find it much better than a wii BUT there are loads more games for the wii
