Has anyone undertaken further study in their area of expertise either related to their job, or to make a career change? Masters or similar?

Was it worth it personally and work wise?

Any experiences to share?

I did an MBA. I enjoyed doing it, and it could have enhanced my career - but not in my current company, and I never bothered moving after having DD/divorce etc. So wasn't a whole lot of use to me.
My company contributed to the cost, they paid half I think.

thanks lobby, i'm thinking of doing an mba - although i have already got a CIMA so not sure if its vastly different in that respect, but am pretty much where you are career wise - post kids, divorce, 3 days a week - the 3 other people i started at work with have all gone on to run either this company or another one and i'm pretty much still where i started  just wondering if it could be the kick start i need for when i go back to full time - thinking i could stay pt while i do it, then start trying to climb the ladder.

good to hear you enjoyed it though, that's always a good start

I'm starting CIPS or my MBA this year, all depends on which funding I get through work as I'm still waiting for confirmation after appling a few weeks ago - the company are more likely to fund the CIPS but the course is much further away, MBA is nice and close but will have to pay for it myself

I would prefer my Masters but if work are going to pay for CIPS I would be daft to turn it down
