 we have an American fridge freezer (Samsung) and when the kids asked for icecream and jelly for pudding I noticed that the icecream was v soft.

I've managed to squash everything into our spare freezer in the shed and :fingerscrossed: I've saved the meat etc. The fridge half 'seems' OK and to still be cold...

Is there anything I can do? Typical it is a weekend so I doubt I can call someone out tomorrow.

Samsung ones are notorious for going wrong. There is a mahooooosive thread on MSE about it. You should have a look on there.

We had an engineer out last year because the thing was rattling / buzzing so much I thought it was going to take off but he changed some part and it seemed to be OK, although I think that was the fridge rather than the freezer.

Same here. When I called they were a little reluctant but I mentioned I'd read about problems on MSE and the engineer arrived the next day. Good luck!

well, just a quick update. I called Samsung who sent out an engineer (no charge) who came 2 days later. He said the whole unit was a write off and he would report back to Samsung. Anyway the same afternoon we got a call and they are replacing the fridge/freezer for us :ellie: even though officially it's out of warranty. We had to fish out our original receipt but the new one should be with us in a week :thumb:

How brilliant you're getting a new one, I must say I'm so impressed you managed to fish out your receipt that in itself would take me another year or so!

Great news, what a relief. They've obviously spotted it's a manufacturing issue so fair play to them for replacing it.

That's great news. We've got a Samsung and took out a 5 uear guarantee on ours. OK so it was extra cash but for the amount it cost we figured it would be worth it. Particularly since my mum had hers about 2 years before she had to spend £250 on repairing it.

Hope it arrives quickly for you!
