It worked for me, last night, and was an article/review about the book "how to raise your spirited child."

I have an older version of the book from ebay, but keep meaning to buy the revised addition.

I must admit, I'm not one of *those* parents with a screaming kid running around the supermarket, because I do it all online.:lol: And the 10 min weekly trip into my local supermarket is preceded by a trip to the cake shop for a big chocolate chip cookie/distraction bribe.:oops::oops:

He's actually very good in restaurants, but the rest of it.....all true.

I take him to toddler gymnastics once a week, and I spend the whole time saying, be gentle, slow down, mind the babies - all the positive discipline phrases you could think off - and it's a lot of hard work, but it works. I get strange looks from other parents though, who must think I'm some sort of dictator.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at a tantrum over a sandwich cut the wrong way. Minor in the scheme of things here.

I don't think I'm a particularly bad parent, and i dont really care if others think I am. My children are normal children with loads of energy, who express themselves in a variety of ways, and I parent to accommodate that.

I sometimes think people set the parenting bar far too high. I find perfectly behaved children slightly freaky tbh, and often wonder what's wrong with them when they'll sit and play by themselves for hours!

I go to the Europa Gym in Erith, North Bexley. http://www.europagymcentre.com/

It's an hour session. First half they are upstairs in hall where the gym equipment is set up as a toddler sized assault course. Second half they are downstairs where the soft play and bouncy castles that they hire out for parties are out, plus a floor level trampoline, runway, bars, and slides that end up in the foam pit. It's fantastic.
