My pal was saying to me yesterday that I'd have to give up my jacuzzis :hissyfit::faint::cry: until baba is born. Is this true and why?? Is it the temperature or like germ control?? I normally jump in jacuzzi after a swim as it's included in price!!

It's because of the fainting risk mainly - your natural body temp is slightly higher so the hot jacuzzi can push you over the edge and make you faint.

Oh I see. I have been feeling pretty faint as it is!!!!

It's not just that I'm afraid. If it were me I would not risk it:

It's the heat, and the fact those things are a cess pit of infection if not scrupulously maintained.

As with all things it's whether you feel the benefits outweigh the risks. I used one in early pregnancy on holiday, it was clean and not hot, as it was part of the swimming pool rather than an isolated one, iyswim.

Sitting in a jacuzzi sent me into premature labour with my first. It broke my waters at 35+3 and she was born at 35+5 weeks. Not a good idea i'm afraid. xx

Ive never been in a jacuzzi that's anywhere near as hot as I have my baths so I'd do it.

I used to go in occasionally ay my gym but it wasn't very hot and was tested for bugs every hour.

Okey girlies I'm definately convinced to steer clear. It's worth it. I'd never do anything to risk the baby but was just interested in reasons iyswim.
Madwife it did occur to me that all that hard hot jets would put a person into labour so thanks for sharing. xxxx

If it wasn't too hot I'd do it for a few minutes. Having a long hot bath would be more likely to increase your temperature. I wouldn't do a sauna/steam though, although I have seen many people doing that at my gym. All in moderation, I guess.

I know what you mean lobby. I was told by my pal first time I was preggie not to have baths which I thought was a bit extreme tbh but as it is we now only have a shower for the time being so baths aren't an option anyway. It's much harder to motivate myself to the swimming pool though if I cna't go into sauna lol :D
