This is Maisie's fourth day of baby rice and she just wants more and more. I'm giving her sweet potato tomorrow. It is going really well, but a few funny things have been happening.

She is a lot more sleepy in the day - she has had 2 sleeps of 2 hours already today, which is a fair bit more than usual. Is this because she's working harder to digest the solids?

She is also waking earlier and earlier in the night for her feed. She used to want a full 8oz of ebm at any time between 2.30 and 5.30. Now she is waking earlier and earlier for it and last night she had it at 12.45. Could she be getting hungrier? How long is it before I can give her 2 meals a day - she currently has her rice at around 10am?

Don't know if this is any help but the Annabel Karmel book starts introducing 2 meals a day at week 3 of weaning, 1 late morning/lunch time and the other in early evening (5:30 - 6:00).

After 'First tastes' have been introduced, I guess just after a month of weaning, she's onto 3 meals a day, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper.

I started weaning Cerys at 17 weeks- just over 2 weeks ago. I started off with baby rice during the afternoon as she was hungry between feeds. This went fine for a few days until she seemed hungrier on the mornings so I introduced baby porridge in between her 1st and 2nd feed of the day.Last week she started showing signs of being hungry at teatime so I gave her sweet potato, which she loves. Yesterday she had her first pureed carrot and I've pureed some brocolli toiday and frozen it for later use. She started waking earlier on the mornings late last week but I've been a mean mummy and left her to go back to sleep. I didn't want her thinking she could get an extra feed when she'd been sleeping so well at night. Her early wakings are now getting later and she's awake for a much shorter time already.
Today she seemed very hungry at lunchtime but I'm going to wait a while longer before giving her 3 meals a day- I'm worried she might explode!
